WOW coming to I-44 Speedway
By Dusty Luthy
LEBANON, Mo. (May 30, 2006) - The fastest cars to ever drive on the dirt oval at
Lebanon I-44 Speedway will return this Saturday night.
The Winged Outlaw Warriors will be on hand for a $1,200 to-win race. About 35 of
the 360 winged sprint cars will compete at the first of two appearances this
season at the speedway.
"Last year they put on a great show," track promoter Randy Mooneyham said. "They
have one of the best shows we will see all season."
The cars will be making about 12.5 second laps around the track, reaching speeds
in excess of 110 mph. In comparison, Late Models, the fastest regular night
racing class, will rack in a lap time in the 14-second range going between 100
and 105 mph.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. and racing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand adult
admission will be $13 and tier parking will be $15. Juniors are $5 and children
12 and under are always free.
Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Bombers and Pro-4s will be running as support classes
Saturday night.
The Wildest Wild Side Ride contest will also continue. Vehicles that are
decorated on tier parking will be judged for the best tailgate atmosphere.
Signs, banners, flags and window paint are all encouraged. The winner will
receive two free tickets to the races and money donated by Hoffman Race Cars.
