Lebanon Midway Modified Madness Drawing Closer
Ronnie Williams
Lebanon, Mo.- (March 26, 2006) - The opening of the 2006 racing season at the
Lebanon Midway Speedway is drawing closer and that means the high paying
Modified Madness is getting closer.
This 6,000 to win,600 to start 50 lap event was a big hit with both drivers and
fans last season as drivers from 4 states were on hand to qualifying for 24
spots.
When the checkered flag flew, it was Newton, ILL hotshoe Chad Newton who stood
in the winner's circle coming from 15th starting spot taking the lead from pole
setter Sean Williams and held off a late race surge from Chad "The Gator" Lyle
in recording the 1st ever Madness victory.
The event was announced in late June last season with a strong field of
Modifieds checking in the pits.
This year the race was moved to start the season on the Midway. "When we did
this last season, it was kinda a spur of the moment deal, we worked hard on it
and it paid off. Several Drivers were already in track points battles and I fell
that hurt our car count some" quoted Owner Harold Armstrong.
"This season we are staying with pretty much the same deal, except getting it
started before the racing season gets going. There is 1 thing we will address
and that is tires. It really worked good the way we did it last season, but this
season Hoosier now has the G60 tire. We also allow the Hoosier A40 and the
American Racer G60.The tires must be the same on all 4 corners, and as last
season the compound and type that get you into the feature is what you must run.
If it is an American Racer IMCA Stamped G60,then that's the type and compound
you run the 50 lapper on."
"I've had several calls from many drivers concerning this race and also our Fast
Factory 50.With the extra land we purchased over the winter, and some new clay
put on the track, we have plenty of room for everyone."
Last seasons starting grid was very strong as track champions such as Chad Lyle,
Johnny Fennewald, Jamie Ragland, Dean Willie, Eric Hudson, Justin Boney, Matt
Johnson, and many others made the 50 lapper. Only 4 cautions flew as 16 of the 26
starters finished on the lead lap and 20 were running at the end.
Entry fee is 125 per car and pt passes will be 30 each night.2 spots will be
saved for the highest Midway 2005 point standing that don't make the feature.
"I really respect Midway doing that for the drivers who support them each week.
"quoted Dean Willie and Area Modified hotshoe Steve Muilenburg. "We all have
been that track regular who feels alittle left out when the big dollar shoes
come in."
