Close Racing Highlights LebanonMidway As Hudson Tops Mod Main

LEBANON, MO. (Sept. 8, 2006) - Over 85 race teams and a smooth racing surface provided close racing action as the Lebanon Midway Speedway hosted its final kids night Friday night as over 90 kids 10 and under competed in bike races sponsored by Energy Companies and Roy's Sunnyview.
In the FactoryStock Division 23 cars checked-in as Troy White brought the field down to the green flag with Chuck Pederson following closely.THe yellow waved quickly as Kris Jackson did a 360 spin collecting Donnie Gennings and Mike Shaddy.Only Gennings would return.On the restart,White again powered to the lead with Pederson close behind as Dlyan Keeper was challanging for position.With White and Pederson battling,Keeper,Steve James,Glen Dismang and last weeks winner Bobby Ratterree were battling for 3rd place and gaining on the leaders.During the long green run,Pederson was faster in the corners,but White would power on the straights.On lap 17,Pederson pulled into the pits with problems allowing White to pull away as Ratterree,Keeper,and James battled swapping spots for the runner-up position as White gathered his 2nd win of the season followed by last weeks winner Ratterree who started 11th,Keeper,Steve James and point leader James Ellis in the top 5.
The Bombers again provide close action early as points runner-up Jack Hamer grabbed the early lead from his pole spot with Billy Waters close behind with 3 wide action behind them.On lap 3,Mike Piercy who startd 10th began his charge forward and moved into 3rd place as Waters grabbed the lead from Hamer on lap 4.Waters continued to lead until lap 6 when Piercy made the move through traffic to grab the spot and never looked back in grabbing his 6th win of the season with Waters,point leader Shawn Winfrey,Joe Francis, and early leader Hamer in the top 5.
In WingedSprint Car action,Rookie Kyle Bellm grabbed the opening lead as the 16 year old was setting a fast pace while Joe Todd followed.Defending champion Eric Todd moved into 2nd place while Bellm was checking out.On lap 4,Jeremy Hazel spun off turn 2 bringing out the yellow and bunching everyone up.On the restart,Bellm again jumped quick ahead as Eric Todd started to apply pressure as the duo race wheel to wheel.On lap 6,E.Todd moved to the front to grab the lead as Bellm stayed close behind as point leader and last weeks winner Clint Todd was coming through the field.On lap 11,Mike Williams spun bringing out the yellow.On the rstart,Eric pulled away as Joe todd,Bellm and Clint Todd battled for 2nd place.Joe Todd moved into 2nd place on lap 13 as Clint Followed.Out in front Eric wasn't to be denied as he grabbed win number 8 of the season as Clint Todd moved into the runner-up spot on the last lap followed by Joe todd,Jack Potter and Bellm at the stripe.
The Mighty Modifieds took to the track with 15 slated to start with Don Luna and Jack Jones bringing the field to the green.The yellow waved quickly as Jones and Craig Rush got together in turn 4.On the restart,Brian Schutt,Rusty Dukes and Eric Hudson showed how to take the Midway 3 wide as Hudson grabbed the early lead with point leader Tony Jackson Jr following.Hudson started to check out with Jackson trying to keep him in sight as Dukes was using the high groove while battling Schutt.With Hudson starting to pull away,the race for 2nd became very tight as Dukes went to the top of the track while battling Jackson as defending champion Jamie Ragland who started 11th moved into this battle on lap 9 as Dukes moved into 2nd place also.The field would bunch on lap 12 as the yellow waved for Brian Millsap.On the restart,Hudson again pulled away while a 3 car battle for 2nd place runners Dukes,Jackson and Ragland was tight the entire distance as Hudson grabbed his 4th feature of the season with Dukes,Jackson,Ragland and Brian Schutt following.
The SuperStocks provided some close exciting action as Bradley McDowell lead the field to the green,but Travis Hill grabbed the early lead with Bill Joiner along side.On lap 4,Josh Woody moved into 2nd place and started to close on leader Hill.Hill who stayed on the bottom of the track while Woody was using the top groove.The leaders stayed close as JC Newell and point leader Ben Newell ran side by side for 3rd place.On lap 9,last weeks winner Donnie Gennings lost a wheel while running in 5th and taking him out of contention.On the restart,Hill kept glued to the bottom as Woody again went to the top side and pulled to within a half a car length.THe duo stayed close and coming to the checkered flag a lapped car came off the wall right in front of the leaders as Hill drove around to grab his 2nd win of the season with Woody,Ben Newell,JC Newell and McDowell following.
Next week the season championships will be decided along with the Ladies Powderpuff event following the racing action.
Sept 22-23 the 2nd annual Coca-Cola Fall Brawl will be in action with over $45,000 in purse money up for grabs.
