Rushin and Burford Take Feature Wins at Poplar
Bluff

Poplar Bluff, Mo. (March 18, 2006) - The 2006 racing season officially opened
Saturday night at the Poplar Bluff Speedway with both a large group of
competitors and race fans on hand for the event.
"Everything went real well," said track spokesperson Joy Banks. "There were a
few things to iron out, but all things considered we were very pleased."
In the Late Model feature, Steve Rushin of Poplar Bluff picked up the checkered
flag with Gary Stolba of WIllow Springs second and Billy James of Sikeston
third. They were followed by Joey Mack, Scott Bell, Chris Jones and Johnny
Stephens.
In the Modified feature, Jamie Buford of Keatchie, Louisiana made the trip a
good one as he grabbed the checkered flag. Robert Powers of Campbell was second
with Austin Matthew of Dexter third, Gary Blackburn of Fulton fourth and Shane
Stephens of Arlington, Tennessee fifth. They were followed by Scott Weber, Troy
Fowler, Jody Jackson, Bob Test and Jeremy Conner.
In the Super Street (Hobby) class, Jared Wagster of Scott City
was the feature winner with Chris Cannon second, Greg Sparks third, Tim
WInchester fourth and Jason Pennington fifth. They were followed by Matt
Rushing, Jonathon Burkheart, Anthony Miller, Laymon Burkheart and Matt Cooper.
In the Pure Street feature, Michael Lack of Caruthersville was the winner with
Greg Casey second, Aaron Darby third, Jacob Black fourth and Cecil "Skip" Holman
fifth. They were followed by Robert King, Eric Smith, Steve Carter, Shawn
Griffin, and Robert Williams.
In the Dwarf car feature, Jonathan Hill of Bertrand was the winner with Brad
Paquet second, John Leahy third, Nelson McMikle fourth and Dom Wadlow fifth.
They were followed by Ryan Poyner, Michael Poyner, Lanny Donnell, Jim Black and
Aaron Bell.
In the Cruiser feature, B. Prince and C. Prince of Corning, Arkansas picked up
the checkered flag with A. Brown/M.Brown second, J. Stephens/T. Stephens third,
D. Bland/H. Bland fourth and Wayne/Harbrueger fifth.
This Saturday night all six classes will be back in action at the Poplar Bluff
