Lebanon I-44 Speedway Set to Hold Season Opener This Saturday
After Rain Cancellation
by: Andrew McNaughton
LEBANON, MO. (April 4) - Rain soaked the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway
prior to last Saturday's scheduled opener, so track owner Randy Mooneyham
postponed his season opener until this Saturday, April 7. With the added week of
anticipation, on top of the whole off-season, the drivers and fans alike will be
eager to get back to the Lebanon I-44 Speedway.
Mooneyham regretted postponing last week's season opener, but did not want to
see the track damaged on the first weekend of racing, nor did he want to see any
of the cars get damaged on a muddy track. He knows that Late Model drivers Brad
Looney, Darryl Mooneyham, and Brandon McCormick, and Modified division drivers,
Jimmy Willis, Jeff Cutshaw, and Justin Newman, have all worked to improve their
rides for this year, and would have hated to see them get smashed up on the
first week of the season.
The 2007 season promises even faster racing with the new red clay put down over
the off season. The new surface saw some fast side-by-side action in the open
practice, and should translate into even better racing once the Late Models,
Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Bombers, B-Mods, Rookies, and DLRA Legends hit the
3/8-Mile high banked dirt track this Saturday night.
Weekly racing is every Saturday night at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Grandstand
admission for Adults is $10 and children 11 and under are free, while admission
to the Wildside is $12 for Adults, and children 11 and under are free. Gates
open at 5PM, with Hot Laps at 6:45PM, and racing starting at 7:30PM.
