LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY HOSTS WINGED OUTLAW WARRIORS THIS
SATURDAY
by: Andrew McNaughton
LEBANON, MO. (April 18) - The Winged Outlaw Warriors 360 sprint cars
will begin their 2007 season at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway this Saturday, in what
is expected to be an exciting night of racing.
The WOW Sprint Cars have recorded top speeds of 110 MPH in previous races at the
3/8th mile high banked oval. In 2006, the Lebanon I-44 Speedway hosted two WOW
events. Foster Landon and 2006 WOW Point Champion Randy Martin were winners in
the two appearances by the sprint car series at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway last
year.
"[The WOW sprint cars] get a lot of grip, and when you get that much grip, you
get a lot of speed," said track owner Randy Mooneyham, who looks to see roughly
30 sprint cars on the track this Saturday.
The WOW series has experienced the same weather problems that forced the
cancellation of three Saturdays of racing at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway,
including last Saturday when snow fell throughout the Ozarks.
In addition to the WOW sprint cars, the Late Models, Factory Stocks, and Bombers
are set to run Saturday night as scheduled. Mooneyham has decided to run the
Modifieds and B-Mods together as a support class, even though these classes were
not originally set to run this Saturday night. After three weekends of
cancellations due to weather, Mooneyham wanted to add the Modifieds and B-Mods
to the Saturday's program in order to give the drivers a chance to finally run
their cars.
"Everybody's itching to go", said Mooneyham about the track regulars, none of
whom have had a chance to race yet this year.
The Winged Outlaw Warriors 360 Sprint Cars race this Saturday night at the
Lebanon I-44 Speedway off interstate exit 135. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and
racing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand adult admission will be $13 and
Wildside admission is $15. Juniors are $5 and children 12 and under are always
free.
