First Five Dollar Friday Now In The Record Books
ODESSA, MO (April 20, 2007) The first night of weekly IMCA action at I-70
Speedway is now in the record books. “The track could not have been better for
an opening night”, was the comment from IMCA Regional Director, Allen Langdale.
“You have to start somewhere and I think you guys at I-70 Speedway are off to a
great start”, added Langdale.
Opening night registrations delayed hot laps by about 15 minutes but heat racing
began on schedule at 8:00 pm and the final checker flag of the evening fell two
hours later, at 10:00 pm. “I was pretty happy with the car count tonight,
considering we are starting something new in the area by sanctioning with IMCA”,
commented Brad McDonald, I-70 Promoter. “There was some great racing and we even
had a past IMCA National Champion competing in the Stock Car class tonight”,
Brad added, speaking of Mike Nichols, who drove all the way down from Harlan,
Iowa. Mike commented, “It is quite a haul but I think I have found my new Friday
night track”.
Ten Stock Cars took the track for a 20 lap A Feature, finishing like this; 1.

The new SportMod class had two drivers, #20x, John Boller Jr., lead #69, Matt
Marrent across Victory Lane in the First IMCA SportMod feature of the season
Two driver also competed in the new IMCA Sport Compact division with #4, Shawn
Box beating #62, Jessie Clemons to the finish line.
Ten IMCA Modifieds battled for 20 laps with the finishing order of; 1. 26ss,
Steven Glenn, 2. 20T, Mike Tanner, 3. 44, Randy Grimmett, 4. 93, Chad Shaw, 5.
56, Jeff Merriott, 6. 22, Yancey Shepard, 7. 37, Jeremiah Asher, 8. 58 Terry Van
Trump, 9. 8b, Andy Benedict, 10. 12c, Merrill Crose.
Worth mentioning is that Modified driver Jeff Merriott is a former standout from
the University if Missouri who also played several seasons for the Patriots,
Rams, Jaguars and the Panther, in the NFL. Jeff also gets the farthest distance
traveled award as he calls Dallas, Texas home.
Action returns to the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway this Saturday night as the
Sprint Cars tackle the new dirt oval. Also on the dirt will be hot lap sessions
for the Midwest Outlaw Lighting Sprints. All of this, for one ticket price, in
conjunction with “Americas Fastest Weekly Racing”, on the I-70 Speedway, Asphalt
Track.
Admission prices for this Saturday night are; $12.00 for adults - $5.00 for
children – children 5 and under are admitted for free.
