SMRS Midgets Return To I-70 Speedway
ODESSA, MO (June 27, 2007) – Just after last weekends Midget Nationals in
Knoxville, IA the SMRS Midget Series will make it’s second stop at the D shaped
dirt track at I-70 Speedway. Last Memorial Day’s event was spectacular as the
traveling stars Feature Event went caution free, with Donnie Ray Crawford
picking up the win. “We talk about grass roots racing allot at the speedway, but
this midget racing is about a grass roots as it gets”. Says I-70 Speedway owner,
Brad Mc Donald.
The last SMRS Show at I-70 Speedway included drivers like Chad McDaniel from
Concordia Ks. Three time Champ Joe Boyles, former SMRS Champ Rick England. 2006
Rookie of the Year, Russ Harper along with Mike Riley and Steve Stroud, all from
the St. Louis area. Several more cars from the Eastern Missouri and Illinois
area made the trip. Mike and Megan Eubanks brought three cars from the Tel/Star
Racing Team with midget veteran Gary Taylor, and outstanding rookies Matt
Sherrell and Donnie Ray Crawford in the seats. Oklahoma’s Randy Timms and
Arkansas’ Rafe Essary piloted the black #5 and #6 of Dwayne McMurtrey from
Choctaw, Ok. and Kevin Battles in the Gene Pearce V-6 Chevy
Don’t miss local drivers like Joe Boyles and Ron Kuhn Jr. battle with the SMRS
travelers for home town bragging rights. Plus, see a full show of Late Models,
Super Trucks, Dash Cars, Super Stocks and Enduros, both the dirt show and the
asphalt show for only one admission price.
Pit gates open at 4:00, Admission gates open at 5:00. Hot Laps on the Asphalt
begin at 6:00 with racing at 7:30. On the Dirt Track, Hot Laps begin at 8:00
with racing action starting at 9:00
Admission price for adults is $15.00, Children 6 to 11, $5.00 and Children 5 and
under are admitted for Free.
