Cooler Temperatures, Hotter Racing on “Five Dollar Friday”

ODESSA, MO (July 20) - With cooler temperatures this week, the fans may have
been more comfortable but, the racing was Hot, Hot, Hot. “These IMCA racers
really have their act together” said I-70 Promoter, Brad McDonald. “The racing
just keeps getting better, you can throw a blanket over the top four or five
cars at the end of the features, in all of the IMCA classes”, concluded
McDonald.
In the IMCA Modified division, Mike Tanner is his #20t found his way to Victory
Lane however, Tanner was being pushed by the second place #22y Yancy Shepard. On
Yancy’s tail for third was the # 26ss of Steven Glenn who was being dogged by
the #58 of Terry Van Trump. Rounding out the top five was the 12c of Merrill
Crose. Following Crose was #93s Chad Shaw, #8 Jeremy Simmons, 77w of Cory Wray,
19 P.J. Conger and the #51 of Joe Skinner.
In the IMCA Stock Car division, the x9 of Brad Whitney returned to Victory Lane
followed by last weeks Feature Winner, the #86 of Gary Foxworthy. Challenging
Foxworthy was the #11t of Bennie Turner. Following Turner was the #12 of Russell
Walter, and the 22a driven by Alvie Christofferson. Travis Taylor in the #97
could not make the call for the Stock Car Feature.
Making his first appearance in the IMCA SportMod division, Royce Stanley Jr. in
the # 57 bested the field. David Truskett in the #24 was second and following
Truskett for third was the #70 of David Willey. Following Willey was the #5 of
Kevin Jones, #31z Wade Brown and the current point’s leader Matt Marrant in his
#69. Marrant, who was challenging for the lead early, was sent to the pits due
to an incident that left him with a broken right front suspension.
In the Sport Compact division, the 33 of Jason Marrant lead the field across the
finish line. Following Marrant was the #27 of Shawn Frey, c4 of first time
driver Connie Moss, the 10 of Joe Willcoxson, #71 Justin Marrant and the 4bt of
Brad Barlow. Jessica Clemons in the #62j was unable to make the call for the
Feature event. Jessica had mechanical problems in her heat race.
The “Caribbean Cowboy” Barbeque Sauce, Farm Truck class continues to grow and
continues to give the fans exciting “rubbin is racin” action. Returning to
Victory Lane in his #9 truck was Tyler Wachs. Following Wachs was the #19 of
Adam Schwartz, the 911 of Richard Scott, #05 Benton Johns, 13 Chris Johns and
the #99 of Larry Schieber.
Fans were also treated to a special match race between Brad McDonald and Wade
Sherman. McDonald on his fire jumping, mini bike and Sherman on his motorized
bar stool. The official scorers were laughing too hard to score the finish.
Perhaps that will set up a rematch.
“Five Dollar Friday” action returns to I-70 Speedway, next Friday night. All
general admission tickets are only $5.00. Pit Gates open at 5:00; Admission
Gates open at 6:00. Hot Laps begin at 7:30 with racing at 8:15. For additional
