Shryock, USMTS return to Lebanon I-44 Speedway Saturday
By Andrew McNaughton/I-44 Speedway
LEBANON, MO (Aug 10) - This Saturday marks the return of the United States
Modified Touring Series to the high banks of the Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Points
leader Kelly Shryock looks to continue his push towards a championship as the
season kicks into high gear with The Hunt for the O'Reilly USMTS National
Championship beginning Thursday night.
Jason Hughes won the USMTS feature that ran at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway back in
June, while Shryock and Al Hejna battled for second. Hughes won the USTMS race
Wednesday night in Nebraska, and looks to continue his success in the USMTS
series, which will race 16 events in 32 days, culminating with the crowning of
the 2007 O'Reilly USMTS National Champion at the 9th Annual Featherlite Fall
Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., Sept. 6-8.
Terry Beckham Jr. has won the last three Modified features at the Lebanon I-44
Speedway, holding off local favorites like Tony Jackson, Jr., I-44 Speedway 2006
Modified Champion Justin Neuman, and current points leader David Hendrix. These
drivers will have their hands full when they face off against the fast Modifieds
of the USMTS in the $2,000 to win race Saturday night.
The Factory Stocks, B-Modifieds, Bombers and Rookies will also race this
Saturday night at Lebanon's fastest track. Lonnie Henderson will tries to win
his second Factory Stock feature in a row, while Jim Hayes looks to follow up
last week's thrilling win over Jason Otto in the closest B-Modified race of the
season.
You will not want to miss this night of great open-wheel dirt track racing at
the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, located off of interstate exit 135 on Old Route 66.
Gates open for Saturday night racing at 5PM, with hot laps at 6:45PM, and races
beginning at 7:30PM. Special pricing in effect, but kids 12 and under are always
free.
