Chuck Comer Takes His First Show-Me Win

WEST PLAINS, MO (Sept. 2) - Saturday September 1 the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series was in action at the West Plains Motor Speedway. As always the track was in tip-top shape for the great drivers of the Show-Me Series. In the end the 83 of Chuck Comer came away with his first ever Show-Me win.

Four heat races started off the night. The 83 of Chuck Comer came away with the win in heat one. Heat two went to the 56 of Conner Ward. Leslie Essary in the 5e came away with heat three. The 113 of Rick Wallis took the fourth and final heat.

Nine cars were left to battle for the four remaining positions in the A main. The 15 of Kevin Henson, the 99c of Don Cloyd, the 59 of Jimmy Bellamy, and the 21 of Mike Madison took the four transfer positions.

The 83 of Chuck Comer would set the pace from the pole position with the 77 of Roger Wilson to his outside. The green flew and the race was on. Comer jumped right out to the front and took off. Lap two brought our first of two cautions. The 31 of Ron Johnson spun in turn four. Comer lead pack around and the race was on again. The 27 of Kenny Hartwigsen and the 113 of Rick Wallis were right behind Comer and applying pressure. The three front runners were staying the same, but two and three wide racing was going on mid-pack. Lapped traffic started to become an issue on lap thirteen.

Comer was pulling away but the 5e of Leslie Essary was now in the top five with only ten laps to go. The last caution came out for the 99c of Don Cloyd on the front stretch. The green flew again and the 27 and 5e were now racing hard for the second position. Four laps to go and the 5e was catching the 83 fast. Comer was able to make Leslie settle for the second position. The 83 of Chuck Comer lead every lap and came away with his first win. The top five followed: the 5e of Leslie Essary, the 27 of Kenny Hartwigsen, the 113 of Rick Wallis, and the 33 of Rick Lebow.
