LebanonMidway Crowns 2007 Champions With Close Racing ACtion
LEBANON, MO (Sept 14) - The Race for the 2007 championships ended Friday Night
at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as 6 new drivers walked out with season titles
after there names as over 80 race teams competed and 3 titles still up for
grabs.
Action started with an exciting feature for the Superstocks as by starting the
feature,Donnie Gennings claimed the season title.Gennings grabbed the opening
lead with Ben Newell right behind him along with JC Newell and Travis Hill
following.Gennings kept his car glued to the pole spot as Ben Newell went
upstairs and pulled even several times then followed closely.On lap 8,JC Newell
made his presence known as he found the outside groove to his liking and treated
the crowd to some 3 wide racing.On lap 12,Ben Newell pulled even with Gennings
coming out of turn 4 with Gennings getting the advantage back in turn 2.In the
final result,Gennings would hold on to grab a 3 car length win with Ben
Newell,JC Newell,Travis Hill and Clinton Betts completing the top 5.
The A-Mod feature found plenty of drama as thee title was up for grabs between
2005 champion Jamie Ragland and 2 time runner-up Eric Hudson with both drivers
starting up front.On the start Ragland jumped out to the early lead with Hudson
following close behind and Steve Muilenburg running 3rd.On lap 7,Hudson shot to
the outside groove and moved into the top spot with Ragland running in 2nd place
while a great battle for position between Danny Atkinson,Brian Brown,Don Luna
and Chris Johnson as they swaped spots back and forth.On lap13,Ragland begin to
slow and pulled to the infield with rearend problems giving Hudson a chance to
claim the season title as Hudson had to finish 10 spots ahead to win the
points.Huson put the car on cruise control and went on to grab his 6th feature
win of the season and ended up tied with Ragland for the top spot in points but
walked away with the title by having more feature wins.Following Hudson across
the line was Steve Muilenburg,Danny Atkinson,Brian Brown, and Don Luna
The FactoryStocks provided plenty of drama also as 4 drivers could take a shot
at the title.Dylan Keepper grabbed the early lead with Bobby Ratterree following
closely.Sundance Keepper shot around Ratterree to grab second place with
defending champion James Ellis coming quickly.On lap 5,Sundance grabbed the lead
looking for his 1st win of the season as Ben Solberg was charging forward.With
Sundance leading,the race for 2nd was tight as Dylan Keepper,Bobby
Ratterree,James Ellis and Solberg were swapping spots.On lap 8,the trio of
Keepper,Ratterree and Solberg went around in turn 1 with Greg Breedlove spinning
in turn 4 send as those car to the rear of the field.This moved Donnie Miller up
to the runner-up spot behind leader Sundance Keepper.Sundance wasn't to be
denied in grabbing his 1st Midway win while the point battle between Ratterree
and Dylan Keepper wasn't over with as positions were swapping.As the checkered
flew it was Sundance grabbing the win followed by Donnie Miller,Bobby
Ratterree,James Ellis and Dylan Keepper at the line with Dylan Keepper claiming
the title.
The B-Mods provided plenty of excitement as newly crowned point champion Jason
Otto brought the field down to the green along with Colt Cheevers however Otto
looped it in turn 4 collecting Shawn Nations ending his night and bringing out a
restart.On the restart,Cheevers grabbed a big lead as Jack Lancaster and Steve
Muilenburg were fighting for position.Following a couple of quick yellows it was
Cheevers again setting a quick pace as the battle for 2nd was tight with
Lancaster and Muilenburg as Ed Wilson was coming quickly through the
field.Muilenburg and Lancaster made contact sending both drivers to the rear
moving Wilson to challange.On the restart Cheevers shot to the lead and grabbed
the victory with Wilson,Troy Young,Jeff Albright Jr and Ted Ballinger following.
With a point title still up for grabs the WingedSprints took to the track and
point leader JP Compton jumped from hid front row starting spot to take command
and never looked back in grabbing his 2nd feature win of the season.Eric
Todd,Joe Todd,a fast moving Rusty Quick and Dustin Arnall completed the top 5.
The Bombers took to the track 20 strong with point champion Mike Piercy grabbing
the top spot quickly with Joe Francis and Jack Hamer following.With Piercy glued
to the bottom of the track,several drivers started making moves forward
including Brandon Waters.Waters was coming quickly through traffic and moved
into second place to challange as deep field starters Issac Keepper and Steve
Shaw were coming to the front quickly along with Landon Johnson.
With Piercy locked on the bottom,Waters tried several times,but Piercy grabbed
the win along with the season title as Brandon Waters,Issac Keepper, Steve Shaw
and Joe Francis completing the top 5.
Up next at the MidwaySpeedway Friday Night Sept. 21 the WingedOutLaw Warrior 360
Sprint Cars will be making there 1st ever apperance at Midway with top drivers
scheduled to be competing include Randy Martin,Josh Fisher,Knoxville 410 champ
Brian Brown,Eric Todd and many more.This will be the season ending event for the
WOW SprintCarsAlso competing will be the 305 WingedSprints,Bombers,SuperStocks
and Legend Cars in a national event qualifying race.
