First Saturday Night “October Series” Event in the Record

ODESSA, MO (Oct 6) – Who would have thought that it would be 91 degrees in
October? But that is not all that was hot! Racing was at its best at I-70
Speedway the Dirt Track with Sprint Cars, Stock Cars and SportMod / B-Mods on
opening night of the Saturday “October Series”.
24 Sprint Cars sign in from around the area with some coming from as far away as
Omaha and Wichita. Through three heat races and a pole dash the Feature event
was lined up. The # 2 of Joe Boyles won the pole dash with 24L Lanny Carpenter,
#75G Rob Hockett, the 89 of Todd McVay, # 10R David Wheeler and the 38 of Cody
Baker following. At the coin toss to determine a straight up or inverted start,
Joe called tails, it landed heads so, the first six cars where inverted for the
Feature start. When the checkered flag flew it was the #10r of David Wheeler
that led the field. Racing into second was the 55 of Kenny Roth, followed by #
24L Lanny Carpenter, the 75g of Rob Hockett, #77 John Klebunde, the 38 of Cody
baker, #7J J.D. Black, the 75 Tyler Blan, #88 Chad Tye, the 12 of Ryan Rector,
#24 Alan Billings, the 18 Tim Newman, #43 Frank Brown, the D1 of Barry Lamb, #89
Todd McVay, the 0k of Kelly Kneifler, #13L David Long, the 85 of Christie
Hoenshell, #12B Mike Boyer, the 12H of Simon Helm, #0 Drew Grayson, the 13 of
Kenneth Bowes, #2 Joe Boyles, and the 82of Michael Brown.
In the Stock Car class, cars qualified through two heat races with the top 3
cars in each heat re-drawing for their feature line up. At the end of 20
competitive laps of racing, the #74 of Herb Danner was the winner. Following on
Danner’s bumper was the x9 of Brad Whitney, #11t Bennie Turner, the 9d of Bryan
Moyer, # 20x Jon Boller Jr., the 14p of Josh Paul, #86 Gary Foxworthy, the 94 of
Josh Steele, #2 Tim Coessley, the 11 of Tim Sexton, #B7 Roger Millward, the 20
of Mike McCoy, #30 Brett Nail, the 174 of Dan Danner and the #40 of Jeremy
Dillon.
SportMods and B-Mods competed together using rules from area races tracks.
Qualifying for the SportMods / B-Mods was through two heat races with the top 3
from each heat re-drawing for their feature starting position. Winning the
feature event was the 20t of Mike Tanner. Following Tanner was the 23 of Bobby
Raybourn, #20x Jon Boller Jr., the 09 of Chad Eickelbery, #69 Matt Marrant, the
44g of Randy Grimmett, #F16, the 21 of David Phillips, #65 Brian Zeesler, the 66
of Chris Wright, #93 Rick Germar, the 3j of Josh Jacobs, #F86, the 59 of Ryan
Roberts, #C4, the 24 of David Truskett, and the #3k of Michael Mullins.
The Saturday night “October Series” will continue next Saturday with the I-70
Sprint Cars, Modifieds, DCRA Dwarf Cars / Mod Lites and the I070 Speedway Farm
Trucks. Pit Gates will open at 3:00 pm, Registration for cars will close and Hot
Laps begin at 4:30. Admission Gates will open at 4:00 pm and racing will begin
at 5:15. Admission for adults is $8.00, Children 6 to 12 are $5.00 with Children
under 5 admitted for free. Pit pass are $20.00 and there is on entry fee to
compete.
