CHANCE HINES GETS FIRST LATE MODEL WIN MONETT, MO (July 7) - After a second place finish last week, late model rookie driver Chance Hines, knew he had a good enough car to win, but with only a handful of races under his belt, the challenge would be hard. Brad Looney and Brandon McCormick, would take the heat race wins, putting them on the front row of the 25 lap main event, Hines starting 3rd on the grid. When the green flag flew, McCormick got the jump, using the low groove of the track, as Looney tucks in behind. On lap 5 Hines began to make his move using the center of the track to take the second spot away from Looney on lap 6. Caution waved on lap 10, for Leroy Johnson, spinning in turn 2, bunching the field back up. McCormick continued to hold the lead using the bottom, as Hines was working the center. Hines took the lead on lap 13, with McCormick still showing his nose on the bottom. Darrin Barton moved into the 3rd spot on 20, as Hines pulled away from the field, getting the first late model win of his career. After the race, Hines was excited, " This means a lot to me, I want to thank all my family and friends who help me, and all the drivers for racing me clean." Hines was greeted after the race by several late model drivers congratulating him on his first win. Modified action saw Tony Jackson taking the lead from Terry Beckham, early in the race and holding off Eric Turner for his 2nd win of the year at the Monett Speedway. The B Modifieds made their 1st appearance at the Monett Speedway Sunday night. Randy Lebow took the feature win followed by Chris Jackson, and JC Morton. Jody Tillman proved he is still the man to beat in the Factory Stock division, along with Shawn Strong in the bombers, and Chad Williams in the Rookies.
