Willis Grabs 1st Ever Career USRA Modified Midway Main LEBANON, MO (July 18) - With over 80 race teams on double points night the action was again fast and furious at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as the new and first time winners just keep rolling on in 2008. The USRA Modified feature provided 3 and sometimes 4 wide racing action as Lebanon's Danny Atkinson jumped to the opening lead from his outside front row starting spot as 3rd starter and current point leader Jimmy Willis shot around pole setter Donnie Gennings grabbing second place.With Atkinson setting a fast pace,Willis stayed glued to the bottom groove while Eric Hudson,Jamie Ragland,Craig Wood and Gennings were battling for positions.Willis would go to the inside of Atkinson several times,But Danny's speed was carrying on the top groove as it was 3 wide beind the leader.On lap 14,Wilis would grab the top spot,but Atkinson took back the lead on lap 16 as Former Midway Champion Jamie Ragland looped it in turn 1 while running in the top 5.On the restart,Atkinson shot back to the top groove while veteran Steve Muilenburg had charged to run right behind the leader Willis and put himself into the mix of contenders.on lap 18 the caution waved for a stalled car as Willis was looking for his first ever feature win with Atkinson,Muilenburg,Hudson,Justin Neuman and Craig Wood all fighting for spots.On the restart,Willis kept it glued to the bottom as Atkinson swung up high to challange but Willis wasn't to be denied as he pulled ahead to take his first ever A Feature win with Atkinson,Muilenburg,a rim-riding Neuman and Hudson your top 5. The FactoryStock feature has produced 8 different winners from 10 races this season well make that 9 of 11 as Doug Rich grabbed the early lead from Jody Schaltz as Derek Brown and point leader Tim Petty followed.Rich was looking for his first ever win on the Midway as Brown stayed close behind.Rich's bid for victory came to a halt on lap 9 as rear-end problems sent him to the pits given Brown the lead while Petty was following closely and a tight battle with Donnie Miller and Jody Saultz along with Bill Scharr for position.The yellow waved for the final time on lap 12 as Scharr,Craig Danuser and Micheal Teeters all got together in turn 2 sending them to the rear.On the restart,Petty tried to make the bottom groove stick,but Brown would hang on to record his first midway win of the season as Petty,Miller,Saultz and Ryan Edde completed the top 5. The B-Mods again provided plenty of action as points runner-up Mickey Burrell grabbed the opening lead with Steve Muilenburg and rookie JC Morton following.The first yellow waved on lap 3 as Derrick Nash spun.On the restart,Burrell was hoping to keep the new winners streak alive while Muilenburg continued to apply pressure.Kris Jackson has shot to the top groove and was coming fast as he started tonight 8th in the feature.On lap 6,Jackson drove right on the top groove and never looked back in grabbing his firs B-Mod Feature of the season in another great feature event.Following Jackson to the line were Kenny Dickinson who on the last restart went from 7th to grab the runner-up spot followed by early leader Burrell,JC Morton and Muilenburg. Again week in and out the Bombers provide plenty of action as the field took the green with points runner-up Brandon Waters grabbing the top spot early with point leader Brandon Knudtson following closely.On lap 4,Knudtson took the top spot as Rob White had snuck into the mix as the lead trio ran 3 wide.Water's chance for victory was denied on lap 9 as a flat tire took him out of action.Knudtson and White fought back and forth as Keith Cheever had ran as high as 4th until lap 10 when problems sent him out of the action.Up front,Knudtson held off repeated challanges to grab the win with White,last weeks winner Shawn Strong,Jack Hamer and Wayne Coffman in the top 5. The SuperStock Sportsman was a wild start as after two restarts rookie Donnie Betts grabbed the early lead with Danny Newell close behind.Bill Joiner started his charge and the leaders were 3 wide on lap 3 when they made contact going down the backstretch as Joiner came to a halt in turn 3 with Dwight Neihoff and Larry Prewett getting collected-up.On the restart,Danny Newell took the lead as point leader Ben Newell started his charge to the front running down the leader as Clinton Betts and JC Newell were battling.On the final lap coming to turn 4,Ben Newell caught and pulled to the outside of the leader and grabbed a 2 car length victory with Danny Newell,JC Newell,Clinton Betts and Bennie Joiner the top 5. The WingedSprintCars provided plenty of ecitement early as after two restarts,J.Kinder grabbed the early lead until lap 4 when current point leader JP Compton took to the high-side out of turn 2 and held off repeated chaalanged from Kinder to grab the win with Galvin Galbreath,Rusty Quick and Scott Wedelstadt completing the top 5. Up Next a regular points show for all 6 classes plus a special paying money race for the FactoryStocks as $500 will go to the winner.
