Ragland Begins Title Push With Midway USRA Mod Victory LEBANON, MO (August 15) - Lebanon's Jamie Ragland and the MidwaySpeedway have been a well fit match for each other.In 2005 Ragland gathered his first ever Championship and in 2007 he ended up tied with Eric Hudson for the championship. On Friday Night Ragland battled early with race leader Justin Neuman and took control on lap 11 and captured his 4th Casey's General stores USRA modified feature event of the season as 90 race teams checked into the pits on Amsoil Night at the Races. The Modified feature saw 16 strong take the green as Justin Neuman was setting the quick pace early as Steve Martin and David Hendrix battled side by side.On lap 3,Martin shot to the inside and applied pressure to Neuman while David Hendrix and Kris Jackson along with Ragland were battling hard.A close call on lap 7 was Martin was going into the pits and slowed,Ragland who battling for position almost crashed into Martin scrapping his right-side on Martin's car.The Yellow waved for debris with Neuman stil in charge with Hendrix applying the pressure.On lap 9,Ragland made the move into second place and moved to the top side of the track trying to catch Neuman.With 2 and 3 wide racing back in the pack for several positions involving Jim Roach,Wayne Graybeal,Larry Tindle,Eric Hudson and others fans were seeing great action.On lap 11,Ragland shot to the outside of Neuman to take control as point leader Jimmy Willis was struggling tonight as he had clipped the wall in his qualifying heat.Up front Ragland wasn't to be touched in grabbing his 4th win of the season while Neuman,Hendrix,Kris Jackson and Hudson completed the top 5. The FactoryStock feature again provided plenty of racing and excitement as pole setter Dusty Rhoads grabbed the early lead with Derek Brown and Troy White following closely.White moved around Brown on lap 2 and was looking to become yet another new winner this season while Rhoads was glued to the bottom of the track while White was applying plenty of pressure.On lap 8,the top 2 point drivers Tim Petty and Derek brown got together sending both drivers to the rar of the field.On the next lap Chad Smith,Donnie Miller and Mark Davis got together in turn 4 again bunching up the field.With Rhoads leading the way,Jody Saultz had worked from his 10th starting spot and was contending White for second place as Mark Bourey and Tim Petty were coming from earlier incidents to get back in the front pack. As the checkered waved,Rhoads withstood the late race surges to take his second win of the season with White,Petty,Saultz and Bourey completing the top 5. The SuperStocks again showed why week after week they are a crowd favorite as JC Newell jumped ahead of Bill Joiner to grab the opening lead with plenty of close action behind the leaders.Travis Hill who was struggled this season began a charge on lap 5 and moved around Joiner to grab second place and began to close in on the leader Newell with 16 year old Dwight Neihoff following him through.Travis Hill had close to only 2 cars behind leader JC Newell and was looking to make a pass until the yellow waved on lap 11 for Donny Betts spinning car.On the restart JC Newell again pulled away as point leader Ben Newell had charged to third place and was challanging Hill.At the finish with 2 wide racing it was JC Newell grabbing his 4th win of the season with Travis Hill,Ben Newell,Neihoff and Larry Prewett completing the top 5. The Bomber feature went caution free as Brandon Waters grabbed the early lead with point leader Brandon Knudtson following.Rob White took over the runner-up spot on lap 3 and set his sights on Waters.The leaders battled side by side until lap 11 when White made a power move to grab the lead with Brandon Waters close behind as battles back in the pack included Mike Piercy,Shawn Strong,Joe Francis and Jack Hamer all swapping spots. Heading for the last lap a car spun in turn 4 as White drifted to the highside and Brandon Waters charged to his inside and grabbed the win at the stripe by a front bumper in grabbing his first win in the season followed by White,Strong,Piercy and early contender Jack Hamer. The SprintCar feature was a close finish also was point leader JP Compton grabbed the opening lead from Rusty Quick with J Kinder close behind.With Compton using the higher groove. Previous weeks winner and 2005 champion Eric Todd had began a charge from his 10th starting spot and had moved into third place on lap 5 and began to run down the leader Compton.With Compton setting a fast pace,Todd has moved around Kinder to take over the runner-up spot and quickly moved on the bottom groove to pull even with Compton.The leaders ran side by side with Todd just nipping Compton at the line.With the checkered waving,Compton swung up very high to make a last lap effort but Eric Todd nipped Comptom to take his third win of the season with Compton,J.Kinder,Clint Todd and Quick completing the top 5. Steve Muilenburg grabbed the opening lead in a caution marred B-Mod feature event as Colt Cheevers,JC Morton,Jack Lancaster and Andy Anderson completed the top 5. Up next Friday night a regular point show featuring the USRA Modifieds,SuperStocks,305 WingedSprints,B-Mods and Bombers with racing starting at 8PM Sharp.
