Ragland Goes Back To Back In Midway USRA Mods As Carroll Tops 1st Ever Midway Factory Victory LEBANON, MO (August 22) - With 90 race teams in the pits action again was fast and furious on the Action track of the Ozarks at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as the chase for the championship got even closer in the USRA Modifieds as former Midway Champion Jamie Ragland captured his second straight Modified feature win. The field of 21 ground pounding USRA Modifieds took the green with Kris Jackson grabbing the early lead with Veteran Terry Kirk jumping to the top groove and Tony Jackson Jr diving to the low side.Kris Jackson who was trying to make Midway history by becoming the first driver to win features in 3 different classes was setting a very fast pace.The first yeoow flew as Tim Ballinger looped it in turn 4 bringing out the yellow on lap 5.On the restart,Kris Jackson was quick on the start as Tony Jackson Jr found defending Midway champion Eric Hudson glued to his bumper as they raced hard for position while last weeks winner Jamie Ragland had moved into 5th and was charging while battling Steve Martin with action all over the race track.On lap 12 the yellow waved for Jamie Petty as Kris Jackson ducked into the pits with a flat tire.It was determined that Tony Jackson had helped cause the yellow and was sent to the rear of the field giving Eric Hudson the lead position with Terry Kirk,RaglandMartin at Jason Meadors currently in the top 5.On the restart,Hudson grabbed the low groove with Ragland and Kirk battling.on lap 14,Ragland made the winning pass over Hudson to take back to back victories and put himself back into the points chase as Hudson,Kirk,Martin and Meadors completed the top 5. The FactoryStock Class would find its 12th different winner this season as the front row of Kenny Carroll and Ted Welschmeyer brought the field to the green flag with Welschmeyer jumping to the top groove while Carroll stayed down low early as the duo ran side by side.On lap 3,Carroll would start to pull away from this battle and opened-up a big lead leaving the racing for second place honors.The race for second included Welschmeyer,Donnie Miller,Dusty Rhoads,Aaron Gustin and Doug Rich as they swapped spots back and forth for the entire 15 laps.Out in front the veteran Carroll was long gone with a full straightaway lead as they encountered Midway traffic with some 3 wide racing.Again up front Carroll was able to run anywhere on the track and was heading for his first feature win of the season while Aaron Gustin finally made the pass to collect the runner-up spot followed closely by last weeks winner Dusty Rhoads who came from 11th to third as Rich and Miller completed the top 5. The Tim Parson's AutoSales SuperStock feature saw point leader Ben Newell jump to the early lead with Larry Prewett and Travis Hill close behind.With the top 3 battling last weeks winner JC Newell move from 11th into the top 5 by lap 5.The yellow waved for debris in turn 2 bunching the field up.On te restart,Ben surged ahead as Prewett and Hill battled back and forth before the duo made contact on lap 12 sending both drivers to the rear.This moved Danny Newell into second and placed JC third on the restart.Ben powered ahead from the field as things started to go crazy as JC had moved into second place and was gaining on the leader B.Newell,he pulled up high with problems as on the frontstretch on the following lap,Danny Newell and Dwight Niehoff got together as Bill Joiner and JC made contact in turn 4.This moved Clinton Betts into the runner-up spot with Travis Hill close behind.On the final restart,Hill went ahead of Betts but it was Ben Newell grabbing his 7th win of the season with T.Hill,Betts,early contender Prewett and Bradley McDowell completing the top 5. The GlassHopper Glass Repair B-Mods got back on track tonight and again provided excellent racing all evening long as the front row of Josh Woody jumps to the early lead with Kenny Dickinson jumping to the top groove.The only yellow flew after 1 lap as Dickinson spun in turn 4 bunching-up the field.On the restart,Woody again to the front with Rookie JC Morton grabbing a solid second place and gaining quickly as point leader Jason Otto moves quickly into third place followed by Mickey Burrell.Out in front,Woody was on a roll moving anywhere on the track as Oto made a move to second on lap 8 getting around Morton and was gaining on the leader while Dickinson was the fastest car coming from the back after his early spin.With 2 laps left,Otto closed to within 5 cars of Woody,but Woody would grab win number 3 on the season with Otto,Burrell,Morton and Dickinson completing the top 5. The Bomber class would see pole setter Rob White grab the opening lead with point leader Brandon Knudtson close behind with some 2-3 wide racing behind.First Knudtson tried several attempts to get around White,but White held on and then later in the Race,Shawn Strong tried to make a move to the front but White withstood the challanges until Strong had a rearend lock-up ending his charge.In the closing laps,last weeks winner Brandon Waters slowly made his way to the front to secure the runner-up spot on the last lap with Knudtson,a fast moving Jack Hamer and Dale Waters completing the top 5. In the WingedSprint Cars former Champion Clint Todd took advantage of his front row starting spot and held off repeated challanges from current point leader and defending champion JP Compton in grabbing the feature win with Compton,Rusty Quick,Scott Wedelstadt and Galvin Galbreath completing the top 5. Racing action will resume on Friday Sept 5 at the Midway with a regular points show featuring the USRA Modifieds,FactoryStocks,SuperStocks,B-Mods and a special paying $500 to win feature for the Bombers.
