Newell,Morotn,Knudtson Top Midway Extreme Racing Program LEBANON, MO (Sept. 14) - Despite rain all around the area and overcast skies the special edition of an extreme night of racing at the LebanonMidwaySpeedway with a different style of racing format along with the first ever pitcrew challange. In the SuperStock Class,2008 point champion Ben Newell set fast time by turning the oval at 17.76 earning him the pole spot for the first 12 lap feature.On the start,it was JC Newell powering to the lead after the track went through a 15 minute rain delay.JC would lead all 12 laps in capturing th race and forcing him to start at the rear of the second feature as Ben Newell,Danny Newell and Travis Hill followed. Feature number 2 saw Rick Hill start on the pole as the field was inverted for the second feature.Hill jumped to the early lead with Clinton Betts close behind.Mike Jones started a hard charge and overtook Hill on lap 5 to grab the top spot as Ben Newell and Travis Hill were coming quickly.On lap 8,Ben powered to the lead and started to pull away as Jones,Hill and JC Newell were battling.Ben Newell went on to capture feature number 2 and won the overall standing with his first and second place.Following Newell in the feature was Travis Hill,JC Newell,Danny Newell and Mike Jones. The Bombers qualifying with Shawn Strong setting the fast time with a lap of 16.77 earning him the pole with 2008 champion Brandon Knudtson to his outside.Strong would lead the opening laps with Knudtson making a bold move on lap 5 and went to capture the first feature event while Strong,Joe Francis,Brandon Waters and Tim Jones followed.Feature number 2 had Billy Waters grab the early lead with Tim Jones close behind.Great 3 wide racing saw Knudtson,Brandon Waters and Francis all battling until lap 5 when Knudtson grabbed the lead as fast qualifier Shawn Strong slowly worked his way to second but couldn't catch Knudtson.Following the top 2 were Brandon Waters,Joe Francis and Jones. The B-Mods always provide excellent racing as 2008 champion Jason Otto grabbed the fast lap with a time of 16.72 just nipping Reggie Jackson who stopped the clocks at a 16.78.The B-Mod feature had ran feature number 1 just after the second rain delay of 20 minutes.Otto jumped to the early lead quickly with Jackson moving to the high groove as Andy Anderson and veteran Wayne Johnston were battling.JC Morotn who had to start at the rear after spinning in qualifying was on a mission to get to the front as Otto was setting a fast pace.By lap 7,Morton had moved into second place,but couldn't catch a fast moving Otto as Otto grabbed the win with Morton,Anderson,Johnston and Jackson completing the top 5. Feature number 2 had Ted Ballinger take the early lead with Brian Millsap moving to the top groove and leading briefly.Wayne Johnston was a solid second battling Jeff Albright Jr as Morton was making a mad rush to the front.On lap 5,Morton grabbed the top spot and never looked back as Johnston held on to grab second followed by Otto,Albright Jr and early leader Ballinger. The Most popular event of the night was the 1st ever pitcrew chaalange as 6 teams entered. The driver would start at the flag stand and take the gren making 1 lap and then entering on the go-kart frontstretch into a marked pitbox.They were allowed to have 2 people go over and change the right rear tire,once completed the driver would race back onto the track and complete 1 lap.tHe winner would be the fastest time including penalties which were 5 seconds for entering to each ,pitting outside the box area and loose lugnuts. JC Morton who drew the last team to pit ended up winning with a total time of 78.08 Secons and no penalties.Wayne Johnston's team was second with a fast time of 64.29 seconds,put 3 loose lug nuts cost them 15 seconds. The MidwaySpeedway will be back in action on Sept 26 and 27th with special paying events including a Non-Winged Sprint Race paying $1,000 to win.Friday night will feature all qualifying heats and pole dashes including 3 classes of karting action.Sat night will be all the features.
