West Plains Motor Speedway For Sale
WEST PLAINS, MO (Oct 19) – Don and Billie Gibson, owners of West Plains
Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri, have announced that their
immaculate facility is for sale.
The racy, 3/8 mile oval, which is home of the annual Show Me 100, Super Late
Model mega-event, as well as several other specials for Open Wheel
Modifieds, Sprint Cars, and Street Stocks plus weekly racing series events,
has been officially placed for sale. It’s with a heavy heart that the
Gibsons consider selling the immaculate facility, but Don’s poor health over
the past year has made it tough for the family to operate the track.
While the facility is for sale, the Gibson family would like to stress to
the racers and fans that if the facility is not sold, that they will open it
for business as usual in 2009 including all of the annual special events and
weekly racing series events.
Billie Gibson comments, “We will not turn our back on the racers, fans, and
traditions, which have rapidly developed over the past 16 seasons here at
West Plains Motor Speedway. No matter what, WPMS will be open in 2009!”
The facility includes 80 rolling acres located on US Highway 63 as well as
one of the very best 3/8 mile, red clay racing surfaces in the country. The
track has seating for over 10,000 fans, plus three separate, fully equipped
concession stands and two souvenir stands. A 4,800 sq ft covered,
tech/vendor building is located on the property. Ample racetrack lighting is
in place around the entire racing surface and facility. All of the necessary
track maintenance and preparation equipment is included with the track. In
addition, a bathhouse and a campground are located on the property.
This facility is priced to sell, and provides a tremendous investment
opportunity for someone to invest in a top notch race track that has a great
and proud history as well as highly-regarded reputation. Photos of the
facility can be found at
