Huge Memorial Day Weekend Awaits the Lucas Oil Late Model
Dirt Series with Show-Me 100 and FedEx 50 on Tap
WEST PLAINS, MO (May 21, 2009) - A blockbuster of a Memorial Day weekend
awaits the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as the nations premier dirt late
model touring series sanctions one of the crown jewel events in the country,
the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Show-Me 100 Presented by DART Machinery
this Friday and Saturday, May 22nd and 23rd at West Plains Motor Speedway in
West Plains, MO followed on Sunday, May 24th with the Third Annual FedEx50
at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL.
A total purse exceeding $132,000 is just one of the reasons that the
nation's best drivers converge on the 3/8ths mile clay oval each year at
West Plains. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be sanctioning the
event for the first time. The first place prize of $40,000 will go the
winner with $20,000 for second and $10,000 for third. Scott Bloomquist of
Mooresburg, TN the current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship
Points leader and is also the defending Show-Me 100 champion; last year he
became the only five-time winner of the annual event that has been held on
Memorial Day Weekend since 1993.
The format for the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Show-Me 100 Presented by
DART Machinery will get underway on Thursday, May 21st with the traditional
practice night that will include test and tune time from 7 PM to 9:30 PM.
The popular BBQ Dinner with the drivers and crews will follow. The dinner is
free to everyone with a pit pass and grandstand spectators are welcome to
join for a modest $7.50 ticket fee.
On Friday Night, May 22nd there will be PRC Time Trials and Heat Races for
the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. On Saturday Night, May 23rd there will
be the Race of Champions, the Manufacturer's Dash, the B-mains and the 100
Lap 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Show-Me 100 Presented by DART Machinery
which will be taped by SPEED Channel for a later broadcast.
In the previous 16 Show-Me 100's at the Don and Billie Gibson promoted
facility there are only two drivers that have made the starting line-up
every year and they are Scott Bloomquist and three-time winner Wendell
Wallace of Batesville, AR. Three-time Show-Me 100 victor Billy Moyer of
Batesville, AR who comes into the event second in the Lucas Oil Late Model
Dirt Series Championship Points Standings has made 13 starts in the annual
event with two-time Show-Me 100 champion, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN and
Bill Frye of Greenbrier, AR next as both have started the event 12 times.
The tire rule for the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Show-Me 100 Presented
by DART Machinery at West Plains (MO) Motor Speedway will consist of the :
Hoosier M20, M40, 1300, 1350, 1600, WRS and WRS2 compounds.

On Sunday, May 24th the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series racing action will
shift to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL just across the Mississippi
River from St. Louis for the Third Annual FedEx 50 paying $10,000 to win.
The visit to the Kevin and Tammy Gundaker promoted facility will be the
first of two this season and the FedEx 50 will be great way for the fans and
drivers to top off their Memorial Day Weekend of dirt track racing as the
LOLMDS will present a complete one-night show with PRC Time Trials, Heat
Races, B-Mains and the 50-Lap Main Event.
The tire rule for the Third Annual FedEx 50 at Tri-City (IL) Speedway will
consist of the: Hoosier LM20 and LM40 and American Racer SD44 and MD56.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has completed 12 events in 2009 with
ten different winners. There are 18 drivers that have perfect attendance
with the series and 238 different drivers have raced with the series at
least once this year.
Scott Bloomquist leads the series standings followed by Billy Moyer, the
latest series winner at Paducah, KY, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA,
4-time series champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and former
series runner-up Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN.
Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN leads the next five in points followed by Ray
Cook of Brasstown, NC, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN, Don O'Neal of
Martinsville, IN and Josh McGuire of Grayson, KY.
Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, MI coming off the PBM/Erson cams Hard Charger
of the Race at Paducah leads the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" chase
over John Blankenship of Williamson, WV, David Breazeale of Four Corners, MS
and Michael Walker of Franklin, TN.
