by Ronnie Williams

LEBANON, MO (June 5) - The racing action Friday night was fast and action packed with close to 70 race teams in the pits and tight action all night long.

Defending USRA Modified Champion jamie Ragland took advantage of his front row pole spot in leading all 20 laps in capturing his second feature win of the season.Ragland have to withstand early challanges from Rustin Miller and then had a hard charging Eric Hudson to overcome.Hudson was moving quickly until a lap 14 caution seemed to slow his movement forward on the charge to the top spot.Following Ragland and Hudson to the line were Rustin Miller, newcomer Brian Green and Donnie Fellers completing the top 5.

The FactoryStock feature provided a dramatic finish as defending champion Tim Petty set the early pace with point leader Bob Gustin right on his bumper.A lap 2 tangle involving Ben Solberg,Tyson Troutman,Donnie Miller and Mark Davis ended Solberg's and Troutman's night. On the restart,Petty and Gustin continued the see-saw battle up front as Sundance Keeper,Chris Darnell and Bill Scharr were battling for position. While Petty was driving a solid race,Gustin was keeping him honest while Darnell had started his forward movement.A Fast moving and last place starting Matt Miller who came from 14th up to 5th had something break loose on the car sending him to the turn 2 wall.As the laps wore down,Darnell moved around Gustin and move a last lap effort around the leader Petty.Darnell drove down low into turn 1 and pulled along side Petty as the duo were side by side down the backstretch.Going into turn 3 and preparing to head to the checkered,Darnell pulled even with Petty and nipped the defending champion by a nose at the checkered with Petty,Gustin,Sundance Keeper and Donnie Miller completing the top 5.

The B-Mod feature provided close action as defending champion Jason Otto grabbed the early lead over Mickey Burrell and Jeff Albright Jr as Tyler Brown,Josh Woody and JC Morton were swapping spots. With the leaders side by side during the long green run,Burrell went to the top side on lap 10 only to have Otto grab the spot back while Albright lead lap 11.On lap 12,Burrell took control with Albright following to take command of second place with Otto falling to third.Heading to the finish,Burrell withstood the late race challange of Albright to take his first win of the season with Albright grabbing the runner-up spot followed by early leader Otto,Tyler Brown and Josh Woody.

The LateModelSportsman feature saw Bennie Joiner take the opening lead with JC Newell,Micheal Jones and Bradley McDowell following.Jones strong early run with a flat tire taking him out of contention.Joiner would lead until lap 7 when point leader Ben Newell shot to the outside of the 3 car battle including JC Newell and McDowell to take the lead. One lap later Joiner would spin in turn 1 collecting JC Newell and MDowell. Both would continue as Joiner's night was finished.Ben Newell then held off a late race surge from JC Newell to take his third win of the season with JC Newell,McDowell,Bill Joiner and Justin McDowell following.

The Purestocks provided plent of exciting action as Frank Bryson grabbed the early lead until lap 3 when Rob Brewer moved into the lead as 4 wide racing was the norm.Brewer lead the next 2 laps until Korey Barker grabbed the lead on lap 5 as Bryson broke an axel ending his night.Point leader Les Hayes moved to challange Barker as John McGinnis moved into the race.Barker held on to win the 12 lap feature with McGinnis, previous weeks winner Adam Lowrance charged from 11th to finish third as Hayes and Brewer completed the top 5.
