Ragland Snags Third Midway USRA Win As Solberg Becomes 7th Different Factory Winner

LEBANON, Mo. (July 17) - With perfect weather conditions and 79 raceteams in the pits racing action was fast and furious Friday night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as 2 new winners visited victory lane this season with close racing action all night long.

Defending USRA Modified champion Jamie Ragland returned back to his home track for the action Friday night and took advantage of a front row starting spot in gathering his third feature win of the 2009 Midway season.Ragland took to the bottom groove on the start as outside front row starter Justin Neuman swung to the outside groove keeping Ragland in his sight while Brian Green and Donnie Fellers were battling along with Rex Merritt. The first yellow waved on lap 13 when Colson Kirk spun in turn 4 closing the field up.On the restart, ragland kept glued to the bottom while Neuman kept the middle lane hot staying close behind. On lap 14,veteran Rex Merritt got around both Fellers and Green to take over third place and began his charge to the front. The yellow waved on lap 16 as Wayne Graybeal came to a halt on the frontstretch. On the restart,Merritt and Neuman went side by side as Merritt was glued to the bottom lane and closing quickly on Ragland with Neuman still running the high line.On lap 17,brian Green's strong run ended as he spun in turn 4 setting up a 3 lap shootout. On the restart,Merritt pulled to ragland's back bumper as Neuman was searching for a faster line.Ragland would pull away off turn 2,but Merritt and Neuman closed-up in turns 3&4.Ragland would hold off the last lap efforts to grab his third win of the season with Neuman,Merritt, previous weeks winner Rusty Dukes and Terry Kirk completing the top 5.

The FactoryStock feature saw 23 cars take the green flag as Ben Solberg shot from his front row starting spot over Brad Gideon and never looked back as the 20 lap feature went without a caution flag. While Solberg was long gone,Gideon and former champion Dylan Keepper kept a hard fought battle for the runner-up spot as James Flood was charging from the 12th starting spot to contend. along with Tim Riffle and Tim Petty.Solberg would go on to become the 7th different winner out of 9 races for the Factorys as Gideon,Keepper,Flood and Riffle completed the top 5.

The B-Mod feature saw plenty of action throughout the field.Rob White grabbed the opening lead with Josh Woody close behind and JC Morton swinging the car to the top groove to contend early as point leader Jason Otto and Tyler Brown were having a tight battle.A lap 5 caution waved bunching the field up.On the restart,Woody went to the outside groove of White and took the lead.On the next lap contact between the front two sent Woody around and White to the pits. This put JC Morton in the lead with Otto,Brown and a fast moving Micheal Stake up front.Last weeks winner Mickey Burrell had moved from 11th to the top 5 and was coming quickly.Morton continued to lead until lap 12 when Otto took over the top spot with Brown following closely. On lap 14,Morton spun in turn 2 as Otto and Brown got together on the backstretch taking the top 3 runners out of contention. This put Burrell in the lead and Mickey held on the final 5 laps to grab his third win of the season with Stake having his best ever finish in second followed closely by Woody,Brian Webster and Jack Lancaster at the stripe.

A first ever time winner in the Purestock class took the victory as Lebanon's John McGinnis took advantage of his front row starting spot for the 12 lap feature as he grabbed the opening lead and held off a late race surge from point leader Les Hayes and Corey Barker to become the 5th different winner in the new class this season.McGinnis had opened a 5 car length lead then fell back towards the end as Hayes and Barker both made a last lap run to the front spot, but McGinnis hit his marks strong.Behind the lead trio was Brian Warner and previous winner Adam Lowrance.

The LateModelSportsman class provided lots of action as Bill Joiner grabbed the opening lap lead, but Bennie Joiner took over on lap 2.Bennie looking for his first ever career win was using the top lane flawlessly as Bill Joiner and JC Newell kept a good close battle for second place. With a long green flag run point leader Ben Newell came charging from 11th to move into the third place spot on lap 9 and begin his move to the front.Bennie Joiner continued to lead as Ben moved around both Bill Joiner and JC Newell to close-up on he leader Bennie. On lap 13,Ben shot to the inside of a lapped car as Bennie went to the outside lane coming to the white flag.Ben took over the top spot and recorded his sixth straight Sportsman feature win as Bill Joiner,JC Newell,Clinton Betts, and Bradley McDowell completed the top 5 as Bennie spun on the final lap sending him back to a seventh place finish despite an outstanding effort.

The pitcrew challange went to the final team as Myron McDowell had to use his crew to push his car across the line as it wouldn't start after they changed the right rear tire. The crew quickly reacted as Myron McDowell, bradley McDowell and jackman Kenny Conn went home $100 richer from EZ Port-Potties by setting the total fast time by 1 second over runner-up Micheal Stake's team
