Nations Grabs 1st USRA Midway Mod Main As Morton Grabs B-Mod Win

LEBANON, MO (August 15) - With over 70 race teams in the pits and perfect weather conditions action Friday Night at the LebanonmidwaySpeedway again provided excellent racing with two first time winners grabbing the checkered flag for 2009.

The USRA modified feature was all Shawn Nations as he grabbed the win for his first ever USRA feature event.

After competing Thursday night at Springfield with the USMTS Modifieds,Nations made his first visit this season a well remembered event.Grabbing the lead from Sam Petty on the start.,Nations would find Kris Jackson and point leader Donnie Fellers coming quickly on lap 3 only to see Jackson spin in turn 1 with Fellers also getting collected-up.On the restart Nations had 2 time and defending champion Jamie Ragland right on his bumper as Ragland was looking for a faster line around the track.Terry Kirk and Sam Petty continued a battle for third as Ragland applied pressure.Nations would pull away and take the win in a dominating performance with Ragland,Kirk,point leader Donnie Fellers and Jackson rounding out the top 5.

The B-Mods provided lots of excitement as another new winner this season was crowned.Micheal Stake grabbed the opening lead with JC Morton and Josh woody following closely.On lap 3 a three wide battle developed with JC Morton splitting the middle lane and taking the lead. as Stake and Woddy battled.With morton pulling away from the field the real race was for second place as Reggie Jackson was making some moves to the front also as spots were being swapped.Woody,Jackson and Stake battled until lap 10 when Jackson got to high in the turns.Up front morton put the car on cruise control capturing his first Midway win of the season with Woody,Jackson,Stake and a fast moving Brian Webster completing the top 5.

The Bombers provided tight action all evening long as Kevin Forshey grabbed the opening lap lead.Rodney Yost took over the lead on lap 2 with Sundance Keepper running the top groove and applying pressure as a 5 car battle developed.Following a couple of restarts,Yost withstood the challanges as Brandon Waters moved into the second place spot on lap 7 as Shawn Strong and point leader Joe Francis were coming quickly through the pack.On lap 9,Forshey's good run went sour as a flat tire slowed him on the track.On the restart Strong went to the top groove of the leader yost as they battled.On lap 11,Strong took the lead as Francis followed.Keepper's good run up front ended as a right flat tire sent him to the pits.The final laps were all Strong as he grabbed the win with Francis,early leader yost,Kolt Barker and Jack Hamer completing the top 5.

The LateModelSportsman feature saw 13 take the Green flag with Justin Stoufer grabbing the lead from his front row starting spot and began to pull away as Jeff Scroggins would hold the second place spot as point leader Ben Newell was charging from his fifth starting spot.Stoufer driving his normal FactoryStock class car was trying to pull the upset as Scroggins and Ben Newell went side by side with previous winner JC Newell charging hard.On lap 7,Ben Newell went to the outside of Stoufer and held off a late race surge from JC to capture his 7th win of the season with JC Newell,Micheal Jones,Stoufer and Jeff Scroggins following.

The PureStocks really provided side by side racing with 14 cars takngi the green as pole setter Scotty Jones took the opening lead as Jason Brumley followed.Jones kept glued to the middle lane as Korey Barker began his move to the front.On lap 9,Barker moved around Jones to grab the lead as Jones took back the spot in turn 2.Going into turn 3,Barker moved around Jones again to take over the lead and grabbed the victory with jones,Billy Waters,Adam Lowrance and and Brumley completing the top 5.

In the final StpCrew Challange of the season,the Team of Shawn Strong pulled off a total time of 52 seconds.Crew members Sundance Keepper and Elijah Keepper got their driver in and out the fastest as the were awarded $100 for the efforts from EZ Port-A Potties

Racing action continues Next Friday night Aug.21 with action in the USRA Modifieds,FactoryStocks,B-Mods,Bombers and PureStocks.The speedway will also be having Doctor Danger perform his death defying car stunts at intermission.

Racing will start at 8PM sharp with the Adult Admission next Friday night being $12 for Adults and kids 10 and under Free.
