Darnell Earns Midway Factory $$$ Special-Strong Patient In Bomber Win

LEBANON, MO. (August 28) - Despite constant evening rain sprinkles, action Friday night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway was fast and furious with 2 and 3 groove racing as over 80 race teams checked in.

Action started in the special paying $500 to win feature as the 22 car field took to the multi-groove track as pole setter Chris Darnell lead the field down as Brad Gayer and James Flood followed closely.With 3 wide racing for positions throughout the pack.

On lap 4 the first caution waved as Tim Brown and Chip Shadduz got together with Brown meeting the backstretchwall as he had moved from 14th to 9th.On the restart,Flood made a power move down low on Darnell as the duo went side by side as point leader bob Gustin had moved into third place.On lap 6,Gustin moved around Flood and set his sights on the leader Darnell.With the top 3 bumper to bumper and wheel to wheel as a tight battle followed involving Gayer,Donnie Gennings,Troy White and Webster..On lap 8,Gustin made the pass for the top spot aroud Darnell as Darnell kept running the middle high groove.Darnell kept close and on lap 11 grabbed the lead back as Flood was running both low and high looking for a hole to move into.The leaders started hitting lapped traffic as Darnell had his hands full of both Gustin and Flood as the battle for fourth was as good with Gayer,Gennings,White and Sundance Keepper as 20th starter Ben Solberg had moved into the top 10.Gayer and Gennings both were gaining on the leaders as the yellow waved on lap 15 for Justin Neuman.On the restart,Flood made a power move to pull even with the leader Darnell.On lap 17the third and final yellow waved as Gayer and Gennings who were coming quickly on the lead pack got together on the frontstretch ending a fine run by both drivers.

On the restart,Sundance Keepper went to the top of the track cushion as Flood tried again to overtake Darnell while Gustin missed his mark and fell back.Sundance Keepper and Ben Solberg both went topside as Flood was pulling closer to Darnell.With 1 lap to go,Darnell got the better bite in the turns and captured the win the third of the season followed closely by Flood,Keepper,Solberg and Troy White.

The Bomber feature saw Jack Hamer grab the opening lead with Brandon Waters close behind.Hamer started pulling away leaving everyone to battle.A tight pack involving Matt Pilant,Waters,Kolt Barker point leader Joe Francis and Shawn Strong were fighting for positions.With Hamer in front,Shawn Strong who started 5th,pulled to the outside groove and pulled into second place setting his sights on Hamer.On lap 7,the yellow waved for Matt Pilant while running third pulling Strong on Hamer's bumper.On the restart,Hamer withstood the challange for 1 lap as Strong made his move to grab the lead.Hamer would cut down a tire on lap 9 ending his strong run as Strong drove away leaving the rest to battle in a wild finish.Brandon Waters grabbed second place with Rodney Yost,Francis and Pilant following.

The B-Mod feature provided excellent 3 wide racing as Tyler Brown grabbed the opening lap lead from his pole spot.JC Morton took control on lap 2 with 3 wide battles behind.Point leader Mickey Burrell made several attempts to grab the lead from Morton and on lap 4,sliced between Morton and Brown.Reggie Jackson was taking to the top groove and was gaining quickly.With Burrell leading,Morton started to gain again while battling Jackson for the spot.On lap 10,last weeks winner Colt Cheevers moved from 11th to 6th pulled in with problems.Burrell started pulling away leaving Jackson,Brown and Morton to battle as they finish in those positions as points runner-up Josh woody completed the top 5.

The LateModelSportsman feature saw a new winner as Steve Beach grabbed the opening lead with JC Newell battling beside of him.Beach and Newell showed the crowd how to race side by side as Bennie Joiner began a strong run to the front runners.On lap 6,Bennie Joiner went to the top groove and moved into the second place spot gaining on the leader.

Joiner pulled to the back bumper of Beach until lap 9 when he got sideways in turn 4 going for the lead.Beach had to withstand a late race surge from JC Newell to grab the win with JC Newell,point leader Ben Newell,Joiner and Mike Jones completing the top 5.

In the Enduro classes,Brian Schutt dominated the feature after an early battle with Willie Payne and Steve Steinmark to take his second straight feature with Grant Sharp taking home second while Willie Payne took home the FarmTruck feature portion.

Racing continues Friday Night Sept 4 with regular racing action featuring points racing in the FactoryStocks,B-Mods,LateModelSportsman,Bombers and the Purestocks.
