SPRINGFIELD, MO. (October 10) - Springfield's Terry Phillips just loves the Quick-Quarter high-banks of the Springfield Raceway. Phillips who started his racing career at the Springfield track when it was a different layout, has had alot of success. Terry took advantage of a lap 5 restart to overtake leader Steve Martin and drive away with the 30 lap feature worth $1,000 to the Springfield veteran. Phillips who redrew the 6th starting position after the top 8 redrew let the race come to him and worked the outside groove to perfection, left the field to battle for positions. Erik Maggard ended up in the runner-up spot after several battles with Tony Jackson Jr and a fast moving Mark Dotson. Perhaps the fastest car on the track was top point getter Brian Bolin. Bolin redrew a 8,was as high as 3rd and charging until a right rear flat took him to the pits. The Fort Scott veteran was able to make it back out and charged again from the rear of the star-studded field which saw several top Midwest modified drivers on the trailer.12 cars of the 20 starters finished on the lead lap. The top 8 in passing points were Bolin, Steve Martin, Jackson Jr, Eric Turner, Phillips, Erik Maggard, Cody Elnicki and Brandon Maggard. B features went to Jesse Stovall and Rex Merritt. The Sport Mod feature found several side by side battles as Sean Williams grabbed the opening lap lead from pole setter JC Morton. On lap 2,Colt Cheevers took the lead and pulled away leaving Williams and Morton to battle side by side all race long. With Cheevers pulling away, Morton and Williams battle ended on lap 22 when something broke on Morton's front sending him to the pits. Williams then would hold off a late race surge from Mickey Burrell to take the runner-up spot with Burrell,Larry Tindle and Jon Yeoman Jr finishing behind the winner Cheevers.11 0f the 20 starters finished on the lead lap as top runners Steve Muilenburg, point champion Billy Street and runner-up Roy Maynard went by the wayside early while running up towards the front. In Bomber action Shawn Strong and Robert High went wheel to wheel in the opening laps, but Strong took full control on lap 4 and never looked back in taking the feature win with High,Dan Wood,Matt Pilant and Jesse Parton following very closely behind in a battle that kept everyone wondering who would finish where as they provided 3 wide racing the entire 25 laps. The Legends again show the crowd how close competition is as Justin Comer grabbed the opening lead for 14 laps with Park Jones,David Bauer,Jay Reynolds, and point champion Jason Rayle went 3 wide for several laps. With Justin Comer holding to the top spot,Dave Bauer grabbed the lead on lap 15 with Park Jones applying pressure.bauer got sideways and on lap 19 Jones went to the outside and took the lead holding off a last lap effort from Comer to grab the win with Justin Comer,Reynolds,Kaleb Copher and Rayle completing the top 5. The Purestocks saw Mark Simon take the opening lead over Cole wells with Tracy Manning charging hard.Manning and Simon ran side by side with Wells staying close behind. On lap 11,Manning took the lead and Simon made contact sending both drivers to the rear of the field.Wells would lead the final 3 laps in taking the win over Joey Long, and Austin Fletcher. The pro 4 feature was a quick paced feature and a Schudy family affair as Kris Schudy lost the lead on lap 3 to Pat Schudy, but then took it back the following lap in taking the win over Pat Schudy,Kory Schudy,Darin Widener and Theresa Widener. THe Next scheduled event at the SpringfieldRaceway is the Larry Phillips Memorial featuring LateModels(Mars Rules) paying 2575 to the winner,A-Mods and SportMods on Sat October 24th.More information will be on the website at WWW.SpringfieldRaceway.com Octoberfast Results USRA Modifieds A Ft-1)Terry Phillips(6) 2)Erik Maggard(5) 3)Tony Jackson Jr(2) 4)Mark Dotson(11) 5)Steve Martin(1) 6)Brian Bolin(8) 7)Jason Pursley(15) 8)Steve Muilenburg(14) 9)Cody Elnicki(7) 10)Jim Body(13) 11)Bobby Pearish(18) 12)Jackie Dalton(17) 13)David Kirkland(19) 14)Jesse Stovall(9) 15)Brian Green(20) 16)Brandon Maggard(4) 17)Rex Merritt(10) 18)Eric Turner(3) 19)Todd Knight(16) 20)John Yeoman(12) 1st B Ft(Top 6 To A) 1)Stovall 2)Dotson 3)Body 4)Pursley 5)Dalton 6)Kirkland 7)Daulton Greven 8)Closon Kirk 9)Ryan Stacye DNS-Travis Smith,Dutin Campbell 2nd B Ft-1)Merritt 2)Yeoman 3)Muilenburg 4)Knight 5)Pearish 6)Green 7)Jon Sheets 8)Jody Tillman DNS-Justin Folk,Mitch Keeter SportMods A Ft-1)Colt Cheevers 2)Sean Williams 3)Mickey Burrell 4)Larry Tindle 5)Jon Yeoman Jr 6)Eric Tinderholt 7)Mike Watson 8)Willie Wilson 9)Tyler Brown 10)Brad Moad 11)Dallas Scott 12)Rick Aiello 13)JC Morton 14)Ron Bolin Jr 15)Billy Street 16)Jay Lemons Jr 17)Jimmy VanZandt 18)Steve Muilenburg 19)Roy Maynard 20)Jeff Albright Jr 1st B Ft(Top 2 To A)1)Scott 2)Wilson 3)Chris Tonoli 4)Greg Strong 5)Cookie Blevins 6)Mike Dupuy 7)Mike Barnett DNS-Corey Pope 2nd B-1)Moad 2)Yeoman Jr 3)Heath Loney 4)Reggie Jackson 5)John Gardner 6)Aaron Speck 7)Glen Yarbrough 8)Darrin Crisler Bombers A Ft-1)Shawn Strong 2)Robert High 3)Dan Wood 4)Matt Pilant 5)Jesse Parton 6)Jack Hamer 7)Nathan Gold 8)Bob Maggard Sr 9)Tyler Chainey 10)Rusty Forrest 11)Mike Hailman 12)John Long 13)Rex Frieze 14)Luke Mason 15)Richard Smith 16)Bill Schoen 17)JR Aitken 18)Darren Burt DNS-Tyrel Jones Legends A Ft-1)Park Jones 2)Justin Comer 3)Jay Reynolds 4)Kaleb Copher 5)Jason Rayle 6)Chuck Comer 7)Dave Bauer 8)Rodney Baird 9)Paul Horton 10)Gary Hockman 11)Rob Watson 12)Dave Comer 13)Tony Jenson 14)Tyler horton PureStocks A Ft-1)Cole Wells 2)Joey Long 3)Dustin Fletcher 4)Joey Blackstone 5)Dottie Aitken 6)Tracy Manning 7)Joe Aitken DNS-Ricky Cross DQ-Mark Simon,Terry Coussins Pro 4's A Ft-1)Kris Schudy 2)Pat Schudy 3)Kory Schudy 4)Darin Widener 5)Theresa Widener 6)Bob Widener 7)Dustin Bass DNS-Darrell Eppenson Jr.
