Midway Holds Banquet In Honoring Weekly Drivers
LEBANON, MO. (November 6) - With over 170 people in attendance, the Lebanon
Midway Speedway held its 5th Championship Banquet with awards going to the
top 10 in points along with the Rookie of the Year,Best Appearing Car Awards
and the Sportsmanship Award.
The honors in the A-Modifieds went to Champion Donnie Fellers of
Wheatland,Sam Petty of Niangua,Justin Neuman of Crocker,Jamie Ragland of
Lebanon,Kris Jackson of Lebanon,Rusty Dukes of Fair Grove,Tony Moore of
Lebanon,Colson Kirk of Urbana,eric Hudson of Rolla and Danny Cross of
Lebanon.For Fellers it was a heatfelt speech as he thanked his wife and
family and truly spoke from the heart about the racing family.It was his
first track championship in many seasons as the veteran driver truly was
enjoying honors.
The B-Mods top 10 included champion Mickey Burrell of Fair Grove,Josh Woody
of Buckhorn,Tyler Brown of Stoutland,JC Morton of Springfield,Jason Otto of
Richland,Ted Ballinger of Halfway,Brian Webster of Richland,Derek Cook of
Lebanon,Jack Lancaster of Urbana and Micheal Stake of Lebanon.Champion
Mickey Burrell kept the room laughing during the early part,then pointed out
the entire class of B-Mod drivers and just how tough the class was.It was
Burrell's first championship in racing.
The FactoryStocks top honors went to champion Bob Gustin of Osage
Beach,Donnie Miller of Houston,Ben Solberg of springfield,Tim Petty of
Niangua,Sundance Keepper of Springfield,Bill Scharr of St Roberts,Tyson
Troutman of Houston,Dylan Keepper of Hurley,Lonnie Henderson of Lebanon and
James Flood of Billings.For Gustin, it was his first Midway Championship and
he made it known just how strong the FactoryStock Class was at Midway as the
season produced 9 different winners in 17 total races and how the class
always went to help a fellow racer in need.Gustin became the 5th different
champion in 5 seasons of Racing at Midway.
The LateModelSportsman top honors went to champion Ben Newell of
Stoutland,JC Newell of Decaturville,Bradley McDowell of Eldon,Bill Joiner of
Lebanon,Bennie Joiner of Lebanon,Micheal Jones of Lebanon,Clinton Betts of
Stoutland,Donnie Betts of Stoutland,Myron McDowell of Tuscumbia and Leland
Seymour of Springfield.For Newell, it was his third championship and the
only driver to defend his track title this season.Ben mentioned the
highlights of racing against his father and how the class stays close
together.
The Bomber honors went to champion Joe Francis of Lebanon,Shawn Strong of
Republic,Brandon Waters of Lynchburg,Rodney Yost of Squires,Jack Hamer of
Ava,Josh Lewis of Stoutland,Brian Warner of Phillipsburg,Kevin forshey of
Dixon,Matt Pilant of Lebanon and Kolt Barker of Lebanon.For Francis who took
home the hard luck award last season,it was his first ever championship in
area racing.He mentioned the class as a whole and how much fun it was
competing and hopes the entire class continues together.
The Purestocks top honors went to champion Les Hayes of Camdenton,Adam
Lowrance of Lebanon,John McGinnis of Lebanon,Jason Brumley of Camdenton,Jeff
DeLong of Lebanon,Frank Bryson of Lebanon,Robert Doublin of Lebanon,Corey
Barker of Lebanon,Shorty Doublin of Lebanon and Tom Monnahan of Grovesprings.
Marvin Jugins of Extreme Racing Collectibles in Buffalo sponsored the
Best Appearing car awards and each of those 6 drivers were presented a
beautiful wood plaque of their cars.Winners were Mike
Jones(LateModelsportsman),Jason Otto(B-Mods),Shawn Strong(Bombers),Kris
Jackson(A-Mods),Robert Doublin(Purestocks) and Bill Scharr(FactoryStocks).A
special award went to Craig Myers at C&S Towing for all his efforts at the
track each week and all 5 seasons.
Micheal Stake won the Rookie of the Year award and also recieved a Wood
plaque from Marv and Jack Hamer took home the Sportsmanship award and also
recieved a Wood Plaque.
22 drivers were eligible for the trip to Vegas giveaway from the Speedway
for perfect attendance this season and Sam Petty won the honors from the
drawing while several area sponsors were presented before the crowd.
For 2010 classes were announced with B-Mods,LateModelSportsman,FactoryStocks,StreetStocks(Formely
Bombers) Purestocks and the newely formed MidWest Modz(Econo Mods).Special
events for each class and A-mods will be competing in special events only.
