Springfield Raceway Adds To Ever Growing 2010 Schedule
by: Ronnie Williams
SPRINGFIELD, MO (January 24) - Just after SpringfieldRaceway released the
Tenative 2010 Racing schedule at the Quick-Quarter 1 month ago,it then
dropped a bomb with the moving and announcement of the John Kuntz Memorial
as the date was moved from July 3rd to June 26 as it has become a challange
event between the MARS Super LateModels and the MLRA LateModels.
At the Ozarks Racing Reunion Sat night,Owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland
have announced some added events and changes making the schedule one of the
most actioned packed in the Ozarks and Southwest Missouri.
The opening racing will be the March Madness on Sat March 27th as the
classes for that event have been announced with the popular Show-Me Racin
Series LateModels opening their 2010 season that night along with action in
the A-Mods(USRA Rules) the ever growing SportMods and the exciting
LegendCars completing the card.
Another well recieved date will be Sat May 15th as the USMTS Modifieds will
be invading the quick-quarter along with points action for the
SportMods,Legends,StreetStocks and PureStocks. The United States Modified
Touring Series is always a popular draw pitting the traveling Modified stars
against the tough weekly drivers. Last season in the 1st USMTS Event 4 time
SpringfieldRaceway Champion Jackie Dalton earned the pole spot and lead the
opening laps, but it was Springfield Driver Terry Phillips holding off
repeated challanges from Jeremy Payne and Jason Hughes in topping the main
event.
While the speedway will not be in action on Sat May 29 due to the running
on the Show-Me 100,it will be in action with a special Monday event as it
will play host to the final stop of the north-South A Modified Shootout
paying $1,000 to win along with the running of the 1st annual PureStock
Enduro Style 100 lapper paying $2,000 to win.Drivers will be running under
their PureStocks tracks rules with only the first 60 Entries being taken.
2 more additional events added will see the Shoe-Me Racin Series LateModels
coming back to the Raceway on Aug 14th along with points battles in the
SportMods,The Newly formed MidWest Modz and StreetSocks.
Another new added date is the running of the INEX DirtCar Legend Nationals
on October 15th and 16th with Qualifying races and support classes on the
15th with the 16 being the Main Events.
This will be the 1st time for the Raceway to hold this National event while
it will be the third time for the state of Missouri as previous events were
held at the Lucas Oil Speedway and the Lebanon Midway Speedway.
