SEDALIA, MO (February 3) - The countdown is well underway for the first
green flag of the year to wave over the Historic Half Mile at Missouri State
Fair Speedway with just 73 days remaining until the season begins on Friday,
April 16th. Before the dirt begins to fly, drivers have the opportunity to
register for competition for the weekly racing divisions at this weekend’s
registration and rules review meeting. Sprint Car, Late Model, and
A-Modified drivers may complete their forms at the meeting this Saturday,
February 6th on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The meeting takes place at
the MoDOT Highway Gardens Building from 10 a.m. to noon; the building is
located south of the intersection of Elm and Missouri street; visit
www.mostatefair.com for a
detailed map. Promoters Reid Millard and Jason Bodenhamer, along with the
speedway’s officiating staff, will answer questions and free coffee and
donuts will be offered during the meeting. Competitors in all three weekly
divisions are required to register for the season. The registration fee is
$50 if paid prior to March 1, after the deadline, registration increases to
$60. The track’s general rules, division rules, and the 2010 events schedule
are available for preview online at www.mostatefairspeedway.net. All
documents will be available in printed form at the meeting. For competitors
unable to attend this weekend, registrations may be mailed with check or
money order to Top Tier Promotions, 680 NW County Road M, Centerview, MO
64019.
During last weekend’s racers auction and trade show a few drivers completed
the registration process. The list of pre-registered drivers has several
familiar names and some new names on it including Curt Potter, Scotty
Roberts, Jim Moody, Buddy Thompson, Jamie Ragland, Jason Thompson, Howard
Hall, Dennis Walrath, Jason Sivils, John Schneider, Chris Coleman, and
veteran late model racer Randy McGraw. The list does not guarantee driver
appearances at the speedway. The response and feedback at the speedway’s
vendor table at the auction was outstanding from drivers and race
enthusiasts alike as the excitement continues to build towards opening
night. The United Late Model Association (ULMA) informed Missouri State Fair
Speedway co-promoter Jason Bodenhamer that it will award championship points
to its member drivers who choose to compete in the track’s late model
division. In the coming weeks, details regarding the track’s car show and
lone test and tune session on Saturday, April 10th will be unveiled.
The event schedule gets more exciting with each update, the latest of which
is the addition of the non-winged Lucas Oil Sprint Bandits, which make their
way to the speedway during the Missouri State Fair on Tuesday, August 17th
along with the Mid America Modified Series. The previously announced July
Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA) date has been changed by request
of MLRA. All total, the MLRA has three dates at the speedway, which include
Friday May 21st, Friday June 25th, and Sunday, August 22nd. The National
Championship Racing Association (NCRA) late models join MLRA for the
co-sanctioned August 22nd event, which also features the Winged Outlaw
Warrior (WoW) sprint cars closing out the Missouri State Fair. The track’s
A-Modifieds will support the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars when they return
to the speedway on Wednesday, June 16th. There are a total of 18 race nights
scheduled at the speedway for 2010.
Be sure to visit the Web site and stay tuned to future press releases for
additional track announcements and information regarding the 2010 race
season. Potential business partners may contact Jason Bodenhamer during
normal business hours at (816) 230-8322 or (816) 522-8343. If you wish to
