SEDALIA, MO (April 2) - Just a couple weeks remain before another chapter is written in the long and storied history of dirt racing at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Opening night at Missouri State Fair Speedway (MSFS) presented by AFLAC will take place on Friday, April 16th with the W-K Chevrolet MAMS Modifieds, 360 Sprint Cars, and Subway Late Models all poised to conquer the Historic Half Mile. Missouri native and legendary racer Ken Schrader will be on hand opening night to meet and greet fans and plans are for him to compete in either the MAMS Modified or Subway Late Model division. Modifieds will race for $1,200-to-win and $250-to-start the featured main event; additional MAMS series information may be found at www.midamericamodifieds.com. Several vendors and businesses will showcase and display their products and services to fans on opening night. Sprint car fans will not want to miss their chance to win an actual complete Outlaw 410 Sprint Car with a J&J Chassis and Paul Kistler engine! The car will be on display and fans will have a chance to purchase raffle tickets for $20 each or 6 tickets for $100. All proceeds benefit the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum located on the Marion County Fairgrounds in Knoxville, Iowa. The Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week throughout the year and each year proceeds from raffle tickets help keep the establishment open to the public. The national and world champion Nauti Marine offshore racing boat will also be on full display. Visit nautiboats.com for detailed information regarding the championship racing program. The Lucas Oil Products Dirt Late Model Simulator Car and the #99 Aflac Dirt Late Model will also be on hand. The Missouri Army National Guard is scheduled to bring their climbing rock wall, a recruiting H-3 HMWWV, and a tactical UP Armor HMWWV. Greg Smith Ford, Mid MO Auto Sales, W-K Chevrolet, and MSFS Official Tow Service, Don’s Towing, will each have displays on the vendor midway. Kiowa Line Builders, another MSFS business partner, will have their presence known at the speedway as up-and-coming sprint car driver Jonathan Cornell will race in the 360 sprint division gunning for the win on opening night. The speedway offers a unique and exciting bus tours marketing package for fans wanting to take their race experience to the next level. Bus tours include exclusive tent access, a meal, beverages, a speedway souvenir and a safe and comfortable ride to and from the speedway. Interested parties may still purchase “Walk-up” V.I.P. Season Passes for scheduled weekly events at MSFS may be purchased by contacting co-promoter Jason Bodenhamer at (816) 230-8322 or (816) 522-8343. The speedway will host its First-Annual Car Show on Saturday, April 10th at Mid MO Auto Sales, 3403 S. Limit Avenue, Sedalia, Missouri, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Drivers interested in displaying their cars may call Jason Bodenhamer to reserve a spot in the car show. Fans will be able to get a first-hand look at the cars competing at the speedway this season, take pictures of the cars, and interact with MSFS drivers. Once the car show wraps up, everyone is invited to the speedway for a Test and Tune Practice Session from 1 to 4 p.m. Pit passes for the Test & Tune are $20; grandstand admission for the fans is absolutely free! Promoters Reid Millard and Jason Bodenhamer and the Michael Ross Foundation MSFS Track Officials have been diligently preparing for upcoming events. Several speedway business partners will be part of the MSFS season. Aflac will present the entire year of racing, Aflac’s values are “To combine innovative strategic marketing with quality products and services at competitive prices to provide the best insurance value for consumers.” The speedway’s A-Modified division will be known as the W-K Chevrolet Modifieds. “W-K Chevrolet has been a long-time supporter of area racing and we are proud to have them as part of the team this year,” stated Jason Bodenhamer. Diamond Pet Foods will sponsor the “Lucky Lap Back Award” during all main events at the speedway. Additional partners include the Subway Late Model division, Miller Lite Start/Finish Line, The Mid MO Auto Sales Firing Line, Midland Sports Cards Pit Area, Specialty Sports Wear Winner’s Circle, and the Budweiser V.I.P.
