OPENING NIGHT THUNDERS THRU THE VALLEY
GRAIN VALLEY, MO (April 12, 2010)- After many weeks of snow, rain and cold –
the weather finally allowed the Saturday night stock car program at Grain
Valley Speedway to commence. A field of 62 cars filled the pit area Saturday
night and resulted in four very exciting feature events. A large crowd
enjoyed the racing action.
In the A-Mod event – Aaron Marrant was dominating the rest of the field
until flat tire from debris ended his run giving the lead to Joshua Stephens
who led until the last two laps of the event when a hard charging Josh Poe
took the lead and went on to take the first checkered flag of the season.
Stephens would finished second with another young gun Kyle Westerhold in
third spot.
In the B-Mod feature – Gunner Martin made it look easy as he swept both his
heat and the feature event to take top spot for the night. Brian Dibben was
an impressive second place and Shawn Burns looked good in third spot. Justin
Asher rounded out the top four spots in the event.
Street Stock racing saw the veteran Dale Eaton outrun Anthony Ward in both
the heat and the feature event. Ward looked strong in his runs as well as
third place Jerry Schmidt and Terry Knight who recovered from a tailback
restart to get back to fourth place on the night. Street Stock racing is
some of the closest bumper to bumper action at Valley Speedway each week.
The Dirt Demons were 14 strong for their first week of racing. Veteran Wade
Sherman continued to show his dominance of the class by cruising to the
checkers over Whit Boughan, Jason Lane and Jeremiah Wilson.
Open Wheel action comes to Valley Speedway this Friday – April 16th with
Sprints, Micros and Mod Lites and Stock car action resumes next Saturday –
April 17th with A-Mod, B-Mod, Street Stocks and Dirt Demons. Check the
