GRAIN VALLEY, MO (May11) - The temps were cool - but racing action resumed at the Valley Saturday night. A great field of cars provided awesome racing action for race fans. In the 25-lap A-Mod feature event – Johnny Fennewald was the man as he led every lap of the event. Josh Poe the pole-sitter was runner-up to Fennewald as the pair face lapped traffic early as only two yellow flags slowed the pace. Tim Setzer and Joshua Stephens were third and fourth finishers with Will Johns rounding out the top 5. In the 15-lap B-Mod feature event – Tim Eaton also led every lap although challenged by Gunner Martin and Shawn Burns throughout the race – Eaton claimed his first victory of the year. Martin and Burns were second and third spot. Chris Martin and Steve Gearhart rounded out the top 5. Eaton is the third winner in 3 races in a very competitive class at Valley Speedway. In the 15-lap Street Stock event – Dale Eaton’s black #3 set the pace for the field much of the event and it looked like Jerry Schmidt might snatch victory from Eaton’s fast machine – however a lap 10 mechanical issue cost Schmidt the chance to prevent Eaton’s second win of the year. Anthony Ward ran second to Eaton early until passed by Schmidt. Both cars looked strong and kept Eaton watching his bumper all night. Ward would finish second with Bobby Ruff third and Bryan Maze after barrel-rolling his car at another event returned with it to finish fourth spot. The Dirt Demon class is growing by leaps and bounds this year – with 19 cars this week – a new class high. Johnny Ayers Jr was the opening laps leader – but Gary McGinnis took the point on lap 4 and went on the his first win of the season. Whit Boughan and Alan Guthrie were second and third and Jason Lane and Bobby Raybourn rounded out the top 5. Racing continues Friday – May 14th with Open Wheel cars – Wings on this week and Saturday – May 15th with the Stock cars and “Armed Forces Weekend”.
