Action started with time trials for the Modifieds and Morton set quick time for the evening with Shawn Strong second quick. This set the field for feature number 1 as Morton jumped to the early lead with Tyler Brown following close behind.Morton pulled away to a 3 car length advantage but Brown relled him in as Strong,Bobby Maggard Jr and Josh Woody were battling along with current point leader Wayne Graybeal.On lap 3 Woody spun but kept going costing him several spots.Up front Morton and Brown ran nose to tail as Maggard Jr was using the high groove and coming fast as Graybeal was following.Despite several challanges Morton took the checkered flag firsr with Brown,Maggard Jr,Graybeal and a fast moving Wes Long completed the top 5. In the second feature the field was inverted with Brian Myers leading the opening lap as all eyes were on the back part of the field with the winners coming thorugh the pack.Josh Woody made a bold move on lap 2 to grab the lead as Wes Long followed him through as Shawn Strong was running the high-side as Bobby Maggard Jr also followed.With Woody setting a fast pace and Long staying close behind Morton quietly moved into third place on lap 6.The caution waved on lap 8 bunching the field-up as Woody was getting pressure from Long while Morton was making some bold moves.On lap 11,Long got sideways as Morton and a fast moving Tyler Brown went around and were applying pressure to Woody with 3 wide action.Brown knew we had to get around morton to claim the $500 winners share,but morton was holding a smooth line and tried for 2 laps to move around Woody.Heading for the white flag,The lead trio went three wide as Strong,Maggard Jr,Long and Graybeal were battling.Woody claimed the feature win with morton,Brown,Strong and Maggard following while Morton grabbed his biggest payday in 3 years of racing while Brown,Woody,Long and Graybeal overall finished in this order. Ben Solberg found himself back into the winners circle as he grabbed his fourth feature in the FactoryStock class.Donnie Miller took the opening lead,but Solberg wasted no time in leading lap 1 as Miller,defending champion bob Gustin and Donnie Gennings were battling.Gennings to advantage on a lap 4 caution to move on Solberg's back bumper and tried several laps to take the lead as Gustin,Miller and point leader Tyson Troutman were coming quickly.Gennnigs began to slow-up on lap 12 with problems as Gustin tried to close-up,but Solberg was flawless on the top groove all night long.Gustin who started 12th finished in the runner-up spot with Miller,Troutman and Tim jones completing the top 5. Current Street Stock point leader Joe Francis found his three race winning come to a halt with an outstanding 20 car field and several of the area's top drivers in the pits tonight. The redraw found JR Aitken and Keith Cheever bring the field to the green with Aitken grabbing the opening lead with Cheever close behind.On lap 3,Shawn Strong moved into the top spot only to find Aitken take the lead back 1 lap later as defending SpringfieldRaceway champion Robert High was founding himself in the heat of the battle. On lap 5,Strong took the lead back as Rob White was getting himslef into contention to challange as Francis who had started 11th was still in mid-pack. Heading for lap 6,High,Strong and Aitken went three wide coming out of turn 4 as they had hit lapped traffic with high going to the bottom of the track and took the lead with Strong following. Strong would pull out of the race with problems 1 lap later as Rob White was challanging High.Veteran driver Melvin Smith found the top groove to his liking and after starting 12th moved into third place with only 3 laps remaining.Up front high and White kept it close as Francis had took advantage of a late caution to move into fourth while 19th starter Brandon Waters had quietly moved into the top5.White tried a couple of moves late,but High held on for his first Midway feature win of the season with White, Smith, Francis and Waters completing the top 5 with 13 of the 20 starters finishing on the lead lap. Ben Newell found it a rough going tonight in the Sportsman class as Bennie Joiner grabbed the opening lead from his pole spot and was looking for his first ever feature win while father Bill Joiner was running second. By lap 5,Ben Newell had moved into second place but Bennie Joiner was holding a solid line and pulling away. The caution waded on lap 9 as Tim Ballinger spun the car bunching the field up. Joiner got the jump and was stronger coming out of turn 2 while Ben was faster in turn 3.After a spirited battle, Ben was able to close-up and on lap 11 took the lead only to see Bennie take it back.1 lap later Ben grabbed the top spot again and recorded the win while Bennie Joiner, JC Newell, Jamie Petty and Bill Joiner completed the top 5. 14 year old JC Newell took the lead from Jeremy Manes and withstood a late race charge from Manes in taking the MidWest Modz feature win and the Enduro class made their first apperance of the season as Joe Francis ran down leader Jason Brumley to grab the win while Brumley and Willie Payne in the Hillbilly farm truck completed the top 3. Action continues Friday night with a regular points show for the Factory Stocks, B-Modifieds, StreetStocks, PureStocks, Sportsman and MidWest Modz.
