LEBANON, MO (June 5, 2010) - An outstanding racing surface and fast paced action Friday Night at Lebanon Midway Speedway provided close racing action and 5 new winners as Tyler Brown finally found some good fortune in pulling off a late pass to capture the Modified feature event. The Modified feature saw Eric Tinderholt and Shawn Strong on the fornt row for the 20 lap feature with Strong going to the top groove quickly as he would lead the opening 2 laps before Tinderholt in only his second start at the track kept his car down low to take the lead on lap 3 as Wes Long,tyler Brown and Kathy Tonoli battled for third place with a second pack of Jamie Barker and JC Morton and point leader Wayne Graybeal battling.Up front Tinderholt and Strong were swapping the lead back and forth as Strong took back over on lap 5 before Tinderholt regained the top spot on lap 7.THe caution waved on lap 9 as Barker,and Morton got together in turn 1 sending both drivers to the rear.On the restart,Tinderholt tried to pull his Hoffman chassis away,but Strong in his Allen chassis was staying on the top side only 1/2 car length behind.Caution waved again on lap 11 as Morton,Barker and Brian Myers all got together in turn 4 ending their nights run.The restart saw Tinderholt,Strong,Brown,Wes Long and a fast moving Micheal Stake along with point leader Graybeal moving back and forth.On lap 13 Strong took back the lead only to give it up the next lap to Tinderholt as the duo went back and forth.Caution waved on lap 14 when front running Wes Long's motor expired ending his chance for victory.Lap 15 saw Strong take back the lead looking for his first ever Modified feature win as Stake moved around Tinderholt and Tyler Brown who had been having nothing but bad luck early this season going to the low side and attempting to take the lead.On lap 17 with Strong and Stake running the high-side,Brown went downstairs as the trio were three wide as Brown took the lead on lap 18 with Strong and Stake battling up on the high groove.As the white was displayed,Strong made a final lunge towards Brown but Brown withstood the challange to claim his first Modified feature win with Strong,Stake,early leader Tinderholt and a fast moving Charlie Gentile completing the top 5. FactoryStock action saw points runner-up Donnie Miller grab the early lead with Brad Gideon and Matt Wilson close behind.Caution waved on lap 2 as Mark Davis collected the turn 1 wall with Bill Schaar also caught-up in the incident ending both their nights.On the restart Miller pulled away with Gideon and defending track champion Bob Gustin fighting for second place while point leader Tyson Troutman and last weeks winner Ben Solberg were swapping the spot.With Miller leading,the race for second was tight as Gideon and Gustin went back and forth while Troutman,Solberg and Tim Jones battled.Miller was able to pull away from the field as Solberg began his late race surge towards the front by moving around Gustin and battling Gideon for the spot.Miller took the win with Gideon,Solberg,Gustin and Troutman completing the top 5 as Miller claimed his first win of the season. The StreetStock feature had point leader Joe Francis take the opening lead from Brandon Waters with Rodney Yost,Jack Hamer and John Gamble close behind.Caution waved on lap 2 as front running Kevin Forshey spun coming off turn 2 bunching the field up.On the restart Francis had Waters battling early with Rodney Yost finding a groove noone else attempted to run through the corners as he took over the second place spot on lap 4 and began his move on the leader Francis.Gamble and and the Water's brothers battled as newcomer Rex Sawyer was making himslef known.Early Contender Hamer spun in turn 1 lossing several spots as he began his forward march.Up front Yost moved to the inside lane while Francis stayed top side as the duo went side by side for 4 straight laps until lap 8 when Yost took the lead.Yost and Francis battled until lap 13 when Francis got around Yost only to see the caution fly for Sawyer in turn 4.This put Yost back in the top spot with Francis,Gamble,Brandon Waters and a fast moving Jack Hamer in the top 5.On the final restart,Yost was able to pull away to grab his first win of the season as Francis,Gamble,Hamer and Waters completed the top 5 in an action packed event. The PureStock feature was a wild affair with a great finish as Shorty Doublin was trying to snap his bad luck streak grabbed the opening lead for the first 2 laps.On lap 3 Robert McGinnis took over the lead as point leader Kory Barker was coming from the rear of the field.McGinnis and Doublin went back and forth with McGinnis holding the high groove.On lap 7 Barker moved around Doublin to take over second place and moved in on the leader McGinnis.The leaders battled for two laps allowing Doublin to move back and grab second place on lap 9.The next lap Doublin carried his forward march and moved around McGinnis to take the lead and grab his first victory of the season as Barker moved around McGinnis for seconf but couldn't catch the flying Doublin.Defending champion Les Hayes and Adam Lowrance completed the top 5. Another first time winner this season was Micheal Jones in the Sportsman feature.Jones making his first start of the season grabbed the lead early from Donnie Betts and then had to withstand a mid race challange from JC Newell to take his first win of the season and his career,Following Jones and JC Newell to the stripe was Tim Ballinger,Clinton Betts and Donnie Betts.Point leader Ben Newell suffered motor problems in practice and only completed 2 laps of the feature allowing JC to close-up in the overall standings. The only repeat winner of the evening was MidWest Modz point leader JC Newell.After veteran Earl Muilenburg grabbed the opening lead and some three wide racing with Newell and Terry Williams,the 14 year old played a waiting game with Muilenburg and took over the top spot during the halfway point of the feature event.Muilenburg stayed close but fell off during the closing laps.Williamd completed the field. Racing action continues Friday Night with action in the FactoryStocks,Modifieds,StreetStocks,PureStocks,Sportsman and Midwest Modz with gates opening at 5 and Racing at 8PM sharp.
