Wilson, Stovall, and Hawkins Win at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO (June 28, 2010) - The only thing hotter than the weather was
the action on the race track at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri as
a mix of new winners and repeat winners were the story of the night as
Casey's General Stores presented the Rockstar Energy Drink Weekly
Championship Series. Vance Wilson made the long drive from Frankford,
Missouri to capture the win in the TNT Quick Shop Late Models in his first
appearance ever at the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks. Despite changing nearly the
complete drivetrain over night Galena, Missouri's Jesse Stovall scored his
seventh consecutive Pitt's Homes A-Modified win while Neosho, Missouri's
Chris Hawkins become the night's second first time winner this season as he
brought his black #133 into Victory Lane in the Carson's Corner Napa Factory
Stocks. Action resumes this Thursday night, July 1st as Lucas Oil Speedway

In the TNT Quick Shop Late Models Vance Wilson drove his beautifully hand
painted #B1 with an IMCA Spec Engine to the front of the field and the win
from his fourth starting position on a tricky racetrack. The battle ensued
behind him as Ben Solberg worked his way from the third row to finish 2nd
driving a GRT Race Car powered by a ULMA Open Steel Engine. Defending
Champion and Current points leader, Tommy Cordray gave it all he had but
settled for third at the finish increasing his lead to 49 points over Jeremy
Kelley. Walnut Grove, Missouri's Kelley found trouble with a stalled car in
hot laps severely damaging the rear of his race car. Kelley was able to make
repairs in time for the feature only to once again get involved in a melee
ultimately finishing in the 14th spot in the final rundown. Wheatland's Andy
Kennedy continues to run strong in 2010 crossing the stripe in fourth while
Tracey Westling brought his GM 604 Crate Engine Powered Machine home in
fifth. Westling was also the GM Top Performer of the race as he earned an
extra $200 courtesy of GM Performance Parts and Reliable Chevrolet.
Jesse Stovall and Shawn Nations led the field to the green flag in the
Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds with Nations jumping out to the early lead and
actually pulling away from Stovall utilizing the top side of the race track.
Stovall continued to stalk Nations lap after lap however showing the nose of
his Hoffman Race Car to Nations several times before Nations bobbled and
handed the lead to Stovall. After that it was all Stovall as he crossed the
AAA Start/Finish Line in first place for the seventh consecutive time in
2010. Nations ultimately settled for fourth at the finish as the handling
went away on the #14. Archie, Missouri's Tim Setzer took the runner up spot
behind Stovall while Lebanon, Missouri's Jamie Ragland charged all the way
from his 17th starting spot to finish in third. Youngster Colson Kirk out of
Urbana, Missouri had quite possibly his best run of the season as he scored
a Top-5 finish behind Nations after starting in seventh.
The Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks got off to a rough start on the
evening as Ken Hicks and Sundance Keepper both rolled their machines on the
third lap of Heat Race #1 ending their nights and eliminating two top
contenders for the evening. Both drivers were OK after the incident but
their machines suffered heavy damage. Another car involved in this accident
that had ramifications for later in the evening was Neosho, Missouri's Chris
Hawkins. As Hawkins finished 8th in the heat, that put him starting shotgun
on the field in 15th based on the passing points system utilized at Lucas
Oil Speedway. A Jubilant Hawkins charged all through the field to take his
first win ever at Lucas Oil Speedway. Bradley Gideon out of Nixa, Missouri
started fourth and finished second while current Point Leader Randy Gilmore
started third and finished third just behind the leaders. Doug Rich out of
Macks Creek finished in fourth while Camdenton's Kenny Carroll finished in
fifth after starting on the pole.
