Central Auto Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.) Night at the Speedway
up Next for CMS after Successful Holiday Weekend!

WARRENSBURG, MO (July 7, 2010) - After a whirlwind three-night stint over
the Independence Day holiday weekend, Warrensburg’s own Central Missouri
Speedway returns to regular weekly racing this Saturday night, July 10 with
Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks, and B-Modifieds set to race
door-panel-to-door-panel on C.A.R.B. night at the races. According to the
C.A.R.B. Web site at www.kccarb.com, "For the C.A.R.B. member race car
drivers the following C.A.R.B. Night benefits apply: Drivers making the A
feature and finishing in the Top 25 will receive $15. Before the features
begin, there will be an opportunity for drivers to become C.A.R.B. members
by signing up that night. C.A.R.B. membership is only $10 and drivers are
guaranteed $15 for making the feature. Additionally, the Larry Kaster Driver
Appreciation Awards will be presented at intermission to some lucky racer
out of the heat races in each class. C.A.R.B. members may renew their
membership and prospective new members may join the organization at the
track this weekend. Current C.A.R.B. members will receive free grandstand
admission for presenting their membership card at the gates. The Central
Auto Racing Boosters started in 1952 and was formed to promote interest in
and understanding of the sport of auto racing.
Stats for the Seventh Annual Tom Wilson BBQ Bowl: 139 drivers took part in
the weekend action in five racing divisions, which included Modifieds, ULMA
Late Models, Street Stocks, B-Modifieds, and OMMS Midgets. There were a
total of 45 races contested throughout the three-day period, including 3
OMMS midget heats, 4 street stock heats, six street stock heats, five ULMA
heats, 12 modifieds heats, 4 modified b-mains, 2 ULMA scrambles, 2 modified
scrambles, 1 OMMS main, 2 B-mod mains, 2 street stock mains, 1 ULMA main,
and 1 modified main event. During the 45 races there were 562 laps completed
by the drivers. Friday’s car count in three classes was 50, Saturday’s count
in three classes was 92, and Sunday’s count in three classes was 90.
Individual car counts for Friday were 19 OMMS midgets, 13 street stocks, and
18 ULMA late models. Saturday counts were 23 B-modifieds, 47 modifieds, and
22 ULMA late models. The final night car counts were 20 B-modifieds, 17
street stocks, and 54 modifieds. There were 8 states represented among the
139 drivers on hand hailing from Missouri (106), Kansas (24), Illinois (4),
Arkansas (1), Iowa (1), Minnesota (1), Mississippi (1) and Oklahoma (1).
Purse money added by CMS fans totaled $650; $400 extra went to late model
drivers with an additional $250 going to street stock drivers. The weekend
guaranteed and fully paid out combined purse was well over $52,000. Race
start time Sunday night was 7:30 for seventeen events including three 20-lap
main events and one 40-lap main event, finish time was 10:35.
Although drivers, fans, and the CMS crew are still recuperating from the
Seventh Annual Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ bowl last weekend, there is no time
to rest as the racing must go on in the hunt for the season championship
title chases enter the hot summer months. Heading into this weekend’s
C.A.R.B. night, past modified champion of Harrisonville, Mo, ‘Smokin’ Joe
Walker has command of the ‘Mighty’ Modified point standings ahead of Jason
Thompson and James McMillin. Although all three of these drivers made the
field and $1,000 just for starting the Tom Wilson race last weekend, it is
safe to say none of them recorded the finishes they were after last week.
Will it be one of the top three point standings men who finally dethrones
five-time feature winner Dustin Boney, or will a dark horse step up and deal
the deuces wild the Joker? Over in the ULMA late models Jason Bodenhamer
leads the pack and rest assured, the Centerview, Missouri driver is points
racing this year in his Derek Nevels owned #88b GRT late model. Bodee’s
close friend and two-time defending track champion Jon Binning of
Warrensburg is still in the hunt and sits second in the standings with one
of the best stories of the year developing in third as young Lane Ehlert,
who drives all the way from Foristell, Mo (3 plus hours) each week,
currently resides in third. ULMA competition at CMS is second-to-none; so
far there have been four winners in six races contested.
The Bandit is trying to steal the show from two-time track champion Brian
Johnson over in the street stock standings. Chad Eickleberry of Warrensburg
grabbed his first feature win of the year last Friday night and followed it
up with a second place run on Sunday just behind Johnson who took the win.
The two drivers get along just enough to run side-by-side on the track and
are not afraid to swap paint and vinyl in a run to the checkered flags. This
excitement surrounding the rivalry will be on full display this weekend when
they compete in a three-lap dash to the finish to determine the bonus money
winner in the mini point’s championship series. By virtue of their tie last
weekend, the two drivers will race at some point in the night for the extra
cash with the winner laying claim to bragging rights and the extra funds.
The duo leads the street stock standings with Eickleberry on top by a mere
twelve points. Last year’s runner-up to Johnson, Michael Mullins is still in
the hunt and currently occupies third in the standings. Over in the
b-modifieds, the field of drivers has really stepped up their games and it
is showing in the standings. Although current leader Brad Smith of Belton
has three feature-race victories, his lead in the standings over 15-year old
Dalton Kirk is just twelve points. Last year’s B-mod champion Ethan Isaacs
is still in the hunt and sits in third heading into this weekend.
If you want to see close-up racing action, make your way to the fastest
high-banked clay oval in the Midwest, you will not be disappointed. New
concessions and improved amenities are just a few of the things that await
your return to the track. The program is run smoothly and there are no
unnecessary delays in the action for our race fans, once one race ends, the
other race is entering the track and ready to get underway. Our officials do
not play favorites for any driver and all competitors are treated as equals.
Reasonable prices for general admission ($12) await our fans and there are
plenty of discounts as well, including $8 admission for senior citizens 65
years and older, military w/I.D. card, college students with college I.D.,
and kids 13 to 17 years of age. Children 6 to 12 years of age get in for $6
and young ones 5 and under are always free and anyone permanently confined
to a wheelchair may enter our admission gates absolutely free of charge! Our
concession stands feature smoked hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bratwurst, hot
dogs, and Frito pies, as well as ice cold Pepsi products, and a the CMS
Hammer Down Bar is stocked with your favorite adult beverage. There are two
sides of the speedway to choose from, our front stretch, which includes full
concessions, restrooms, and the Hammer Down Bar right off of Hwy 13, or our
pit-side stands (non-alcoholic), which is located adjacent to the pit areas
for our drivers. There are no long lines waiting for a printer to kick out a
check at the end of the night for the drivers as all winnings are paid after
all cars clear tech at the pay window in cold-hard cash. You can sit behind
your computer and wait for all the race results or you can witness racing
first hand, up close and personal just as it was meant to be witnessed each
Saturday night at the speedway. Our pit gates open weekly at 4:30 with
grandstands opening at 5. Hot laps begin at 7 and racing takes to the track
