Who will Take Home the Trophies on KMMO Race Night at Central
Missouri Speedway!
By Alan Miller
WARRENSBURG, MO (July 28) - The weather has been a challenge for fans and
drivers at Central Missouri Speedway this season. We’ll make another attempt
this Saturday night to continue the “Chase for the Championships”. The
‘Mighty” Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds will
return to the fast smooth high-banked clay oval surface in Warrensburg on
KMMO Race Night this Saturday evening. KMMO-1300 will have a live radio
remote at the track beginning at 5 pm when the admission gates open. CMS pit
gates will also open at 4:30 with a drivers meeting at 6:30, hot-laps at 7
and racing underway on the track at 7:30. This Saturday night will also be
the final weekend for race fans to use the newspaper two for one admission
ticket coupons.
This season Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane has been a exceptional
race supporter at CMS for local drivers. Each week either the feature
winner, if they have not won or a randomly selected driver departs the track
at the end of the night with a new Waterloo storage product in hand. Check
waterlooindustries.com for all of their high performance storage and
organizational products.
In the highly competitive modified division, Concordia driver, Jason
Thompson has the points lead over Joe Walker from Harrisonville who is just
22 markers behind Thompson. A consistent finisher this year, James McMillin
from Warrensburg sits in third. Easton, Kansas driver, Tyler Schmidt, is in
fourth and the veteran Rick Beebe out of Shawnee, Kansas stands in fifth.
In the ULMA Late Model division, the veteran driver Jason Bodenhamer from
Centerview continues to pace the Late Model drivers with his skilled and
patient approach in the features. Bodenhamer is leading the track ULMA Late
Model division and in the chase for the overall ULMA points race lead with
Bob Test from Jefferson City. Jon Binning, the 2009 track champion out of
Warrensburg is still within striking distance in the second spot for late
model track points.
The division with the tightest battle for the crown is in the Street Stock
class with Warrensburg driver, Chad Eickleberry leading Brian Johnson from
Independence by just four points. Johnson has carved away at Eickleberry’s
lead over the past several race weeks with both drivers finishing in the
top-five at least six times. A new driver in the top-five is a young man
from Warrensburg, Bryce McMillin climbing into the third position.
The B-Modified class has been the Brad Smith show up to this point after
claiming his fifth victory during the previous feature race. But the 15 year
old driver out of Gardner, Kansas, Dalton Kirk, continues to stay close with
Smith only 22 points out of the lead. Jacob Ebert from Oak Grove is also
within striking distance to the top spot in third.
