WARRENSBURG, MO (August 10) Warrensburg’s own Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) will once again gather as they have been for over 17 years on the clay oval track in Warrensburg to share a night of fun for the kids, their families as well as developmentally disabled adults from numerous agencies around central Missouri. The ‘mighty modified, ULMA late model, street stock and b-modified drivers will make another attempt to drive their machines into Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane. One of the biggest highlight events at the track each year is the Annual Kids Night at the Races sponsored by KDKD 95.3 Radio and the Missouri Army National Guard. Kids, ages 12 and under will make their way down to the front stretch of the high-banked clay oval at intermission to run foot races with children their own age to compete for a coveted winner’s medallion. After each race every child receives a bag of goodies with school supplies, driver autograph cards and t-shirts, business discount coupons, candy the other race related trinkets. The race fans, drivers and local businesses provide the items that fill the bags full for the kids. All children twelve years and under will also receive a free hot dog and drink courtesy of track promoters Earl and Susan Walls. The Wall‘s have provided a venue to enjoy racing events and family fun for 17 years. They work hard as a family to provide a track with updated facilities for racers, fans and families to enjoy some entertainment every Saturday night throughout the summer. They also give back to the community through the free ticket programs for disabled adults and well as disadvantaged kids through the annual Kids Night at the Races. Each race season they provide free admission tickets for the agencies serving the disadvantaged so they can bring staff and residents to the track for a night of summer fun and racing entertainment. The Cornerstone Agency in Higginsville is one such group and are big supporters of Concordia driver, Jason Thompson the current point’s leader in the modified division at CMS. Thompson’s mother owns and operates the agency helping to provide housing for developmentally disabled adults. These adults will also have a chance to participate this Saturday evening with various games designed for them many of whom are just kids at heart. Be sure to join us this weekend at CMS. General admission is $12 and there are plenty of discounts including $8 admission for senior citizens 65 years and older, military w/I.D. card, college students with college I.D., and kids 13 to 17 years of age. Children 6 to 12 years of age get in for $6 and young ones 5 and under are always free; anyone permanently confined to a wheelchair may enter our admission gates free! Pit gates open weekly at 4:30 with grandstands opening at 5. Hot laps begin at 7, racing begins 7:30.
