Exciting Night At Midway Produces New 2010 Class Winners As
Stake Tops Modifieds
LEBANON, MO (August 20) - An action packed night of racing at the Lebanon
Midway Speedway saw last lap finishes along with several new class winners
as the chase for the Championship in the Central Bank Racing Series starts
the homestretch drive.
The Energy Company Modifieds would see current series point leader Michael
Stake and young gun JC Morton driving his GM Crate motor bring the field
down to the green as Morton quickly went to the top groove as Stake made the
middle lane work for him as early season dominator Colt Cheevers fell into
third spot.Stake and Morton started pulling awat as the battle for third
spot saw Cheevers,Don Luna and Eric Tinderholt battle. With Stake setting a
quick smooth pace,Morton decided to try different race lines around the
track. On lap 7,caution waved as a chain reaction battle in turn 1 found
front running Don Luna going up the track and stopping with a broken tie-rod
ending his charge. On the restart,Morton went back upstairs as Cheevers went
to the low side and took over the second place spot.Last weeks winner Tyler
Brown started his charge from the 11th starting spot as Tinderholt found the
low side of the track to his liking.Stake had began to pull away leaving the
race for second place as Cheevers,Tinderholt,Morton and Brown raced for the
position. With Stake opening the lead up even more all eyes were on the
runner-up spots as Tinderholt was trying hard to get around Cheevers. On the
final lap,Tinderholt went around in turn 1 as Stake was long gone capturing
his second feature win of the season as a tight battle saw
Cheevers,Morton,Brown and a fast moving Ryan Edde completing the top 5.
Excitement was the word for the Coldwell Banker StreetStock feature as
Pole-Setter Kevin Forshey brought the field to the Green flag with Monk
Barker to his outside.Forshey grabbed the opening lead with
SpringfieldRaceway point leader Jack Hamer following closely. With side by
side action throughout the entire pack,Forshey was holding off repeated
charges from Hamer as Billy Waters, point leader Joe Francis,Barker and last
weeks winner Rodney Yost along with Brandon Waters were going back and
forth.During the long green run,Forshey was swinging the car wide in turn 4
allowing Hamer to close-up the gap while Billy Waters was trying to get
second place from Hamer.Caution waved on lap 11 as Andrew Cheever made
contact with the frontstretch wall ending his night. On the restart,Forshey
who was looking for his first ever win took advantage only to see Hamer
close-up in the later laps.As the leaders took the white flag,Hamer made a
bold move to attempt to take the lead from Forshey going into turn 1.Forshey
got the car alittle high and looped in allowing Hamer to take the lead and
grab his first win of 2010 at the Midway as all action followed behind the
winner with 5 cars battling with Joe Francis,Monk Baker,Billy Waters and
Rodney Yost following.

middle of the track as Gustin was working different lines.Point leader Ben

and Solberg ran side by side.Up front Cheevers setting a quick pace would
find Solberg moving up to challange him by lap 6 as the duo ran nose to tail
as Gustin,Petty,Troutman and Tim Jones swapped spots. On lap 8,Solberg's bid
for victory would slow-up as the entire front end of the car had ripped away
and sheet metal was flopping.A safety yellow waved as track crews ripped it
away and the race restarted with Cheevers finding Gustin on his back
bumper. On the final restart,Gustin tried the extreme low groove but Cheevers
held off the charge and pulled away for his first FactoryStock win of the
season with Gustin,Solberg,Petty and Jones completing the top 5.

action with a broken tie-rod.On lap 3,McDowell who started 5th in the
