SPRINGFIELD, MO (September 14) - The Larry Phillips Memorial takes center
stage this Saturday, September 18th at Springfield Raceway as the Lucas Oil
MLRA battles the MARS Dirt Car Series Late Models in head to head action at
the venerable Springfield, Missouri oval. First Ballot Dirt Late Model Hall
of Famer, Larry Phillips is considered by most to be the greatest racer of
all time in the Springfield, Missouri area and lays claim to four MLRA Wins
in his illustrious career.
With just eight points separating the top 3 drivers in the Lucas Oil MLRA
Points Standings, the Springfield race could have serious championship
ramifications as the action happens fast and furious at the 1/4 mile

standings as the driver of the #58 Barry Wright Race Car holds a tiny four
point lead over 6-time and defending MLRA Champion Al Purkey out of

Republic, Missouri fan favorite Brad Looney holds down the third spot in his
GRT as he sits just four points behind Purkey. Omaha Nebraska's Joe Kosiski
occupies the fourth spot in his red Ford GT 500 schemed machine.
Springfield, Missouri's Terry Phillips, son of Larry the Legend rounds out
the Top-5 after recently joining Scott Bloomquist as only the second Dirt
