Petty Snags First Ever Midway Factory Win As Morton Takes Modified Nail Biter

LEBANON, MO (September 17) - Under perfect weather conditions the action at the Lebanon Midway Speedway Friday night saw the trend of new winners continue as 3 new winners grabbed their first victories with close racing all night long.

The Central Bank Factory Stocks rolled out with former track champion Tim Petty and Aaron Gustin in the front row. Petty jumped to the early lead as point contender Tyson Troutman following closely along with Tim Jones.Petty despite a track championship has never won a Midway feature had Troutman pulling even but Petty was faster off the corners as Colt Cheevers was making his way to the front.Side by side action with Petty leading was the norm all during the feature. On lap 4,Troutman took the lead over but the yellow flew as former champion Dylan Keepper slowed on the track. This allowed Petty to get back into the lead with Troutman and Cheevers battling. From there Petty pulled ahead and grabbed his very first ever Midway feature win as Troutman,Cheevers,Tim Jones and a fast moving Brad Gideon completed the top 5.With Troutman's second place finish and point leader Ben Solberg not racing tonight,Troutman has moved back into the point lead by 8 markers as they will decided the championship next Friday Night

The Energy Company Modifieds rolled out as Crate motor racer JC Morton and points runner-up Tyler Brown brought the talented field to the green flag.Morton grabbed the early lead as Brown moved to the middle lane as Shawn Strong and Mike Striegel went side by side.Morton keeping in the middle to lower lane really had the car dialed-in as Brown pulled even several times trying for the lead. The features only caution flew on lap 4 as Brian Myers and Kenny Carter got together in turn 2 making the field even tighter. On the restart,Morton got the quick jump as Brown had a challange for second place as Shawn Strong pulled even while point leader Michael Stake was quickly moving forward. On lap 7,Strong moved around Brown to grab second place and began his charge on Morton for the lead as Stake overtook Streigel for position.Strong tried several moves on the leader Morton, but the Hot Summer Nights shootout winner withstood the challanges as in the pack,Stake used lapped traffic to move around Brown for third while last weeks winner Colt Cheevers followed also.Morton was able to fend off Strong charges to take his 2nd points feature win of the season as Strong,Stake,Cheevers and Brown completed the top 5.Stake gained 7 more points on Brown and wil go into next weekend 22 points in the lead as this will be decided next week.

The PureStock feature saw plenty of wild action and another first time feature winner as Matt Young was able to turn around last weeks tough luck into a victory as he captured his first ever win of the season in his rookie season of driving.Young and pole setter 15 year old Justin Allen brought the field to the start with Allen grabbing the early lead while Young,Brad Ballinger and Brian Warner followed. The features only caution flew on lap 3 as a chain reaction incident saw Adam Lowrance, last weeks winner Elijah Keepper,Doug Phelps,Stacye Burns and Chad Hufft all involved. On the restart,Young began to close on the leader Allen as Robert Doublin was making his march forward..On lap 4,Allen slowed and then had problems sending him to the rear putting Young into the lead with robert Doublin applying pressure as Elijah Keepper was slowly coming forward.Keepper made a move into second place on the final lap and closed on Young, but the rookie driver held off the charge to take his first ever win with Keepper,Doublin,Brian Warner and Phelps in the top 5.

Coldwell Banker StreetStock action saw a new 2010 winner as former champion Brandon Knudtson quietly charged on the top groove and surprised everyone in taking a great feature event.

The start of the feature saw Mark Simon and SpringfieldRaceway champon Jack Hamer bring the field to the start as Simon took the opening lead with monk Barker following closely.Simon running the middle lane and Barker down low really put on a good race as Brandon Waters,Hamer and a quiet moving Brandon Knudtson following.Caution waved on lap 3 as point leader Joe Francis pulled up with a flat tire.On the restart,Simon looking for his first ever Midway win found Barker close behind as Waters and Knudtson followed.During the long green run,Knudtson found the top groove to his liking as he made some bold moves around.Barker's strong run ended on lap 7 as he spun bunching the field up.On the restart,Knudtson shot to the top side and took the lead on lap 9 as Simon began to slow-up with problems.Knudtson put the car in his first ride in this machine to the top and never looked back leaving the field to battle for second place as Rodney Yost moved around the Water brothers for second place.Knudtson took the victory with Yost,Brandon Waters,Billy Waters and a fast moving Mike Piercy who started 15th in the top 5.

The MidWest Modz class has been getting large each week and this weel would provide lots of action.Timmy Ballinger grabbed the opening lead with Heath Neil following. On lap 3,veteran Earl Muilenburg moved into the top spot as Ballinger was riding the middle groove.During the long green run, point leader JC Newell moved around Ballinger on lap 7 and began to run down Muilenburg.Caution waved on lap 9 as Baalinger lost a radiator ending his run for the night. On the restart,Newell went top side of Muilenburg as the duo raced side by side. With 2 laps remaining, the point leader Newell pulled ahead of Muilenburg as last weeks winner Rich Reynolds was coming quickly.Newell went on to grab his 10th win of the season as Muilenburg was a clsoe second followed by Reynolds,Neil and James Ellis.

The Rocky Ridge Construction Sportsman feature had a rough night as it looked like a battle ground for the racers. After a couple of attempts to start,Bennie Joiner took the early lead while Jamie Petty followed.Joiner was pulling away from the field until lap 3 when he spun in turn 1 collecting Donnie Betts. This put Jamie Petty in the lead as JC Newell was close behind.Newell took over the top spot as Petty and Jeff Scroggins followed closely.Points leader Ben Newell who was involved in an incident was coming from the back of the pack and moved around Petty for second place on lap 7.A late caution for Donnie Betts set-up a last 2 lap shootout but veteran JC Newell kept Ben at bay to take his 5th win of the season and 6th overall.Following the father-son Newell duo to the stripe was Scroggins,Petty and Tim Ballinger.
