WARRENSBURG, MO (December 18, 2010) - CMS Promoters Earl and Susan Walls have added an additional special event to the 2011 race season for modifieds and street stocks. The first-annual “CMS Modified Nationals” will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the ‘fastest high-banked clay oval in the Midwest’ with a $3,500-to-win, 50-lap modified feature.
Recently, the CMS crew met to discuss this event and the number one concern was to fit in a post-season special race with the hopes of creating a new annual race for drivers and fans. For many years, CMS has been asked, “why can’t you guys hold a special event after the regular season ends?” Now, with the addition of this race, that question has been answered. The unanimous outcome was to hold the race between two previously scheduled high-profile local events, which allows drivers to include one more big-money race to their schedules.
With three big-money events already dotting the CMS schedule, the thought process was to open this event up to attract not only the local hot shoes but also drivers from various sanctioning bodies, travelling series, and tracks throughout the Midwest. The hopes are that race fans will get a rare glimpse of drivers from all around the country intermingling in this open-style format. The race may even wind up settling a few bets as to who truly the best-of-the-best is when it comes to modified drivers and what a better place to host this event than at the ‘Home of the Mighty Modifieds’ … CMS!
Aluminum heads will be allowed for the race; however, any driver utilizing aluminum heads will have to add 50 pounds of weight up front (25 lbs disbursed per side) in order to compete. All tires will be checked for softening agents! The ever-popular Street Stocks will provide support with the winner claiming a whopping $500 for the victory. Stay tuned to official CMS press releases for race format and rules details after the New Year regarding the first-annual CMS Modified Nationals.
