WARRENSBURG, MO (June 15, 2011) - You never know who will show up to compete
with the best drivers in the Midwest at Central Missouri Speedway and
especially this weekend when modified and late model drivers prepare for the
upcoming Tom Wilson 8th Annual Fourth of July BBQ Bowl weekend. This
Saturday evening is another good opportunity to make an appearance on RSC
Equipment Rental Night at the Races. If modified and late model drivers make
two weekly race appearances (May special excluded) before the specials, they
are eligible for a discounted entry fee for the Fourth of July special
feature events.
Fathers will also be treated to displays of antique cars and military
vehicles before the races along with Johnson County Public Health medical
professionals providing health screenings for Dads at both entrances to the
grand stands. Each week at CMS, front and back-side grandstand admission
gates open at 5, with hot-laps starting at 7, and racing on the track at
7:30.
The action has been tight and super competitive at the ‘Fastest High Banked
Clay Oval in the Midwest’ in four divisions, including the ‘mighty’
modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modifieds. Last weekend,
the racing heated up with a green to checkered flag finish for the ULMA late
models when Steve Clancy from Odessa pulled out the feature win and
celebrated in Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane for his first feature
win. The ULMA track point’s battle continues to focus on Centerview driver,
Jason Bodenhamer, who now also unexpectedly moves into the top spot of the
modified division. Jon Binning from Warrensburg and O’Fallon driver, Shawn
Rayfield have really stepped up the pressure on Bodenhamer with some classic
side-by-side encounters the last few races. Binning and Rayfield are within
striking distance for the point lead in second and third.
The modified points race was turned upside down last weekend when several
drivers in the top-five received disqualifications after the feature event.
As a result of the disqualifications, Jason Thompson from Concordia
inherited the feature win for his first CSM triumph of the year and also
climbed into third place in the battle. Jason Bodenhamer now claims the top
spot with the point’s lead as the unprecedented leader in two tough CMS
divisions. Terry Schultz from Sedalia also finds himself in second just
eight points behind Bodenhamer after some strong early season top-10
finishes.
The b-modified division has another dominator this year with a determined
Jacob Ebert, the young driver from Oak Grove, took his fifth feature win of
the year last weekend. Ethan Isaacs from Bonner Springs, KS and Jason
Billups out of Holt, MO continue to rack up solid finishes to keep the
pressure on Ebert.
Street Stock drivers are now on the look-out for Brian Ziegler out of Bates
City after his third feature win to now claim sole possession of the points
lead. Hard luck driver, Michael Mullins from Kingsville suffered more
problems last weekend but still stays within 26 points of Ziegler in second
place. Nate Barnes continues to improve his race program with consistent
top-10 finishes in the third spot.
