"Flyin" Mike Ryun wins three in a row
as Farmer, Tanner, Whitney and Wray also visit victory lane at I-35
Speedway!

WINSTON, MO (July 16, 2011) - It was a hot night
both on and off the track. Close races all the way down to the checker flag
brought fans to their feet and sent them home happy. Four repeat winners and
one very happy first time winner would visit victory lane as it was the
Platte City and Smithville Pizza Shop midseason championship night at I-35
Speedway!
In the IMCA Sport Mod class Kansas City Missouri's
Mike Tanner racked up win number five on the season but lost a motor in the
process. Tanner passed Chris Wright using a lap car to his advantage and
held off a hungry Ronnie Miller after he started to lose his motor with five
to go. Miller had a career best finish in second with a hard charging Jeff
Stotts third, Clay Hale fourth and Anthony Asher fifth. Jeff Stotts came
from ninteenth to third to win the hard charger.
There have only been four winners in twelve races in
the IMCA Hobby Stocks coming into tonights action, after tonight you can add
a name to that list. Lee Farmer from Bethany Missouri has had a fast car all
season but by the time he could get through traffic the leader has had a
huge lead. Tonight he started along side eight time winner Greg Keuhn on the
front row and showed what he could do if he got out front first. Farmer took
the lead and led every lap and cruised to his first career win. Keuhn would
finish second followed by Nyle Goodwin, Matthew Lance and Jeremy Turner.
Goodwin came from tenth to third to win the hard charger.
Pleasent Valley's "Flyin" Mike Ryun won his third
Grand National feature in a row as a season high fourteen cars were on hand.
Track owner Mike Johnson has upped the pay in the class and drivers are
responding. Ryun had a battle with Dean Wray before Wray exited the track
with mechanical problems. Time Shields in his second start would finish
second, Buz Kaster was third, Gary Donaldson made his first trip to I-35 a
good win finishing fourth and Darren Kling finished fifth. Donaldson went
from thirteenth to fourth to win the hard charger.
Trenton Missouri's Brad Whitney captured win number
two but his first since the Stock Cars went back IMCA. Whitney has had
problems the last few weeks including in his heat race tonight. Whitney
stared the feature fifth and worked the bottom of the track to perfection as
he passed leader Gene Stigall to bring home the win. Stigall would told off
points leader Kevin Anderson, a guy who he trails by only two points, to
finish second, Anderson was third followed by Josh Steele and Jake Cameron.
Whitney also took home the hard charger.
IMCA Modified points leader Cory Wray from Jamesport
Missouri overcame motor issuses last week to pick up win number three on the
season. Wray led every lap holding off another three time winner Darren
Shaw. Shaw was followed by yet another three time winner in Shay Woods. Bud
Wilson and Buz Kaster rounded out the top five. "Mr. Excitement" Jim Cameron
came from fourteenth to finish seventh to capture his second straight hard
charger award.
I-35 Speedway will be back in action next week as
we're joined by the Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers. To view full results and
