Sunday!
by: Lonnie Wheatley
CALIFORNIA, MO (July 18, 2011) – After a pair
of rousing events atop the tight, ¼-mile Double X Speedway clay oval earlier
this season, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region makes an encore
appearance at the California, MO, track this Sunday night.
And, Sunday’s Clyde
Wood Memorial offers some added money with a $2,000 winner’s share along
with $1,250 for second and $1,000 for third.
While California,
MO, native Randy Martin and Nixa, MO, shoe Kyle Bellm have reached victory
lane in previous ASCS Warrior events at Double X Speedway, Brad Loyet sits
atop the point charts entering Sunday’s action.
Loyet, a rookie
among the Sprint Car ranks after collecting several Midget titles, picked
off his first Sprint Car win with a Warrior triumph at La Monte’s LA Raceway
on June 24 and added a second win this past Friday night at Cameron’s U.S.
36 Raceway.
As a result, the
23-year-old from Sunset Hills, MO, has amassed a 105-point advantage over
four-time Warrior champion Randy Martin, with Bellm just 20 more points back
in third.
Sedalia’s Jonathan
Cornell enters Sunday’s action ranked fourth with Farmington’s Mark
Shirshekan and Lone Jack’s Cody Baker tied for fifth.
The rest of the top
ten includes Josh Stephens (Buckner), Austin Alumbaugh (Higginsville), Tyler
Blank (California) and Haley Arnold (Sedalia), with Haley’s sister Miranda
Arnold (Sedalia) just outside the top ten along with the likes of Dakota
Carroll (La Monte), J.R. Topper (St. Joseph), Chad Corken (Highlands Ranch,
CO), Evan Martin (Lohman) and Bryan Grimes (Slater).
