GRAIN VALLEY, MO (July 20, 2011) - After a two night break the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek rolled into the tight confines of Valley Speedway on Wednesday night, and it was Kyle Schmidt, who was declared the winner of the 30 lap feature after initial winner, Nathan Mayes, was disqualified. Jim Moody of Bates City, Missouri started the night by setting fast time in his group and overall with a 15.233 second lap around the ¼ mile oval to earn the MRW Racing Wheel Pole Award for the feature. He was joined on the front row by Tim Setzer. Dustin Boney and Matt Dotson also locked into the main event by setting fast time in their respective groups. As the feature went green it was Setzer, who shot to the lead, with Boney, Moody, and Chad Lyle applying heavy pressure. Setzer would lead until the first caution flew on lap 3 for a multi-car incident in turns 1 and 2. When the race went green flag again a great battle began to rage for the lead as Setzer, Lyle, and Boney battled three wide. However, Boney’s luck would take a turn for the worst on lap 7, when he and Setzer made contact, causing Boney’s right front tire to go flat as he brought out the caution. The next restart would see Shad Badder race past Setzer for the top spot as race fans began to notice that 15th starting, Nathan Mayes, had advanced to the fourth spot by lap 15. Four laps later Mayes would move to the second spot as he set his sights on the leader, Badder. A lap 21 caution bunched the field with Badder in the lead over Mayes, Lyle, Setzer, and Kyle Schmidt. Two laps after returning to green flag action Mayes would use the low line exiting turn two to claim the lead. Despite a pair of late race cautions he would claim the initial win over Schmidt, Lyle, Badder, and Townsend. However, the unthinkable would happen to the winner, when he failed to report to the scales after the race, resulting in his disqualification, and the awarding of the win to Farmington, Arkansas’ driver, Kyle Schmidt. The revised balance of the top five included Lyle, Badder, Townsend, and Setzer. The RacingJunk.com first heat was won by Austin Siebert with Chad Lyle
winning the MRW Racing Wheels second heat. Kyle Schmidt claimed the win in
the B&B Racing Supply third heat, and Shad Badder won the MSRMafia.com
fourth heat. The COMP Cams SMP Series would like to thank COMP Cams, Racing Head Service, RacingJunk.com, Lunati, Quarter Master, MRW, Klotz Synthetics, The Brake Man, MSRMafia.com Marketing Services, TRE By Bone, and B&B Racing Supply. COMP Cams SMP Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service
