by: Steven Tiedeman
BUTLER, MO (September 1, 2011) - If you’ve been longing to satisfy your fix
for some Friday night dirt track racing not too far from the Greater Kansas
City Metro, look no further than Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) in Butler,
Missouri this Friday, September 2nd. The high-banked 3/8th mile track will
open its gates to racers and fans for an evening of racing action in five
exciting classes, which includes late models, A-modifieds, B-modifieds,
street/factory stocks, and hobby stocks.
According to track announcer Steve Tiedeman, Josh Poe has been the man to
beat in the A-modified division the last few weeks as he has registered two
wins in a row at the track. Long-time driver Dennis Bunger of Harrisonville
has posted some strong finishes as well as Chase Jones in the A-modifieds.
Mike Streigel and Ben Kates have run well in the B-modified division with
Brad Smith of Belton occasionally dropping in to compete. Last weekend,
Sundance Keeper claimed the street/factory stock main event with Allen
Perryman running in the second spot. Justin Wells took the victory in the
late model division with Larry Jones, Alan Vaughn of Belton and Kevin Coyne
of Kingsville in hot pursuit. Jon Binning and Jason Sivils have also
recently competed in the late model division as has Larry Jones. Gary
Newport took the most recent victory in the hobby stock division. As Steve
always says, make “Butler Motor Speedway your great Friday night racing
destination.”
Posted first-place money for the competing classes include $300 to win for
the b-modifieds, $200 for the street/factory stocks (will run classes
separately if enough cars to run separate classes are present), $500 for the
A-modifieds and $500 for the late models. If there are 10 or more late
models, the first-place payout will increase to $600! There have been a
nice mix of late models recently with different drivers showing up, the
track is looking to have the different drivers who’ve been in attendance
over the last few weeks all present on one night to put on some great racing
for the fans. There have been open lates, Show-Me lates, CRATE cars, and
ULMA cars all present in recent weeks. Listing of or mention of various
drivers does not guarantee race appearance.
So far this week, track personnel have received calls from as far away as
Des Moines, Iowa with regards to the Friday night race program. Track
Promoter C.J. Chevalier spent Wednesday evening at the track doing some
grading and track maintenance and has plans on returning on Thursday for
some sheep’s foot preparation and watering to get ready for the Friday night
race program. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday evening with hot laps set to
roll out around 7:30/7:45 and racing shortly after. General admission for
adults is $10, Seniors 60 and over $8, kids ages six to 12 $6, children five
and under get in absolutely free! All pit passes are $25. There are NO
track registration fees in any class.
Make your way to BMS via US Highway 71 just over an hour south of Kansas
City; take the Passaic Exit to Business Highway 71, cross back underneath
Highway 71 and travel to Rte TT where you will make a right turn over the
railroad tracks. Travel a short distance and take the first right hand turn
to continue on to the speedway. There is plenty of parking in the pit and
grandstands parking areas. Coolers may be brought into the grandstands area
by paying a $5 charge upon entering the grandstands. Only canned beer and
ice may be brought in via coolers, NO EXCEPTIONS! The concession stand,
which is accessible from both the pits and grandstands, features a full line
