Looney Wins March Madness
by: Trenton Berry
SPRINGFIELD, MO (March 25) - Capitalizing on a made
three point shot at intermission, Brad Looney, worked the high side of the
Springfield Raceway to score his first win of the season and first ever at
the quarter-mile oval. Looney was among the top six drivers in passing
points and shot against the five other high point getters for the pole in
the "RacinDirt.com Pole Shootout." Brandon McCormick also knocked down a
three pointer to sit on the outside of the front row.
Will Vaught
passed Tony Jackson Jr. on the last restart to take the runner up honors,
and literally pushed Looney to the checkers off of turn four. The track was
lightning fast and two grooves wide during the feature. Jackson Jr.
challenged Looney after the midway point of the race and pulled alongside
him for a moment, before finishing up third. Terry Phillips went from
seventh to fourth, as he continues to progress in his new Bloomquist Race
Car.
Jesse Stovall, piloting Al Humphrey's Orange Moyer Victory
Circle, passed thirteen cars in the feature to secure the KRC Hard Charger
Award with a fifth place finish. It was a strong comeback after battling
several different issues in his heat race including, two flat tires.
Heat race wins went to, Will Vaught, Dwayne Kiefer, Bryon Allison, Brad
looney and Kevin Sather.
