Pam Hassler - 24 Raceway

MOBERLY, Mo. (June 17, 2006) - Moberly's 24 Raceway recently experienced a little bit of the unpredictable June weather. June 10th proved to be one of those days - beautiful, warm, sunny - until a little before race time when the skies opened up and caused the pits and track to become a muddy mess! So everyone went home and waited another week to go racing.

June 17th was also a beautiful day until race time. Huge black clouds rolled in, but still the races started on time as usual. Rain started falling about halfway through the A-Mod heat race (the final class heat) so a pause in the action gave the rain a chance to tease the crowd and racers. After about a 30 minute wait, the racers wanted to race! With Vance Wilson, A-Mod 22c, taking the lead, the support of many other racers joined the pack of trucks and "ironed in" the track making a super racing surface. The wind whipped up some cool air and occasional rain drops, but the races resumed for a complete evening of great racing and still finished at 11:10 pm.

IN MEMORY
Sympathies were extended to the family of Jonathon Petersheim on the death Friday, June 16 of his mother. Jonathon drives the #18 B-Modified. Grandsons are Ryan (#6 Sportsman) and Tyler (#66 Hobby Stock).

RESULTS
LIMITED LATE MODELS:
Danny Lorton (#27 Moberly) accepted the first place trophy, the $500 prize, and the extra money donated by Randy's Race Mart from Memphis, MO. Kevin Vandelicht (#2V Ashland) came in 2nd, with Walt Imhoff (#69 Jamestown) third.

4-Cyl HORNETS:
Twenty-five Hornets were split into two feature races. The first 5 places of each heat race were put in the A-Feature with the remaining placed into a B-Feature.

A-Feature: The first three rows were inverted. Brooke Hassler (#21
Columbia) quickly charged through the pack, and settled into the lead in the 4th lap to capture his 3rd win in a row - the 4th of the season. Second place went to Rob Chase (#3 Clark) who gave a good run with 3rd place John Brown (#01 Huntsville) on his tail. A good battle for 4th place occurred between successful Darren Morgan (#9M Paris) followed in 5th Josh McGee (#82A Moberly) and 6th Tanner Richards (#3R Boonville). Lowell Smith (#37 New Cambria) escaped injury when his car hit hard on the front wall on the last lap.

B-Feature: This feature was won by Jeremy Bell (#12B Huntsville) who sneaked into the lead on the backstretch on Lap 2. Michael Roslien (#53
Clarence) looked as though he might have 2nd place but had to retire into the pits - giving up that spot to hard-charger Richard Doctorian (#36
Smithville) and 3rd place went to John Doctorian (#2 Wentzville).

HOBBY STOCKS:
Mike Wolfe (#11W Madison) took command of the race and the the win but not without pursuit from 2nd place Tim Dawson (#28 Callao) and 3rd place Kevin Renzelmann ( #41 Moberly), who put on a true race competition. Fourth place Tom Elsen (#6 Clarence) and 5th Larry Krog (#6 Clarence) also displayed a good show between two good racers. Winner Mike Wolfe acknowledged the "good track".

SPORTSMAN:
The 12-lap feature started 17 cars with the first 2 rows inverted. Several challenges provided an awesome show, but Clinton Dale (#12
Jacksonville) captured his 2nd win of the season over hard-fighter Pete Agee (#14 Huntsville). Jeff Creed (#01 Cairo) took 3rd as he slipped past Butch Bailey (#111 Novelty) and then challenged Agee, but ran out of time. Kyle Chinn (#81 Clarence) also was a contender but settled for 5th. Great competition throughout the entire race. Dale stated that he "had a lot of fun"!

MOBERLY MOTORS B-MODFIEDS:
A super competition early on displayed great driving skills from Bob Woodrow (#3 Perry) who charged in the high groove from his inverted starting position to capture the lead. Kelly Smith (#82 Kirksville) finished in 2nd and Chris Leathers (#17 Macon) finished in 3rd. Both had ideas to battle low, then high, but couldn't catch Woodrow, who was in lapped traffic. It was a great battle also for the 4th position between Tony Garner (#20 Macon) and Steve Robinson (#10 Huntsville) who started far back in the field. It came down to the wire with Garner slightly edging out Robinson. Good racing!

A-MODIFIEDS:
Curt Potter (#11P Boonville) had an impressive run trying to grab his first win but eventually veteran winner, Vance Wilson (#22c Frankford) didn't let that happen as he took over the lead to become the winner. Potter fought hard to finish 2nd for the 5th time this season, as Kelly Smith (#41 Kirksville) followed into 3rd and Steve Potter (#1P Boonville) settled for 4th. Kenny Midd (#07 Winfield) came in 5th. This was Wilson's 7th checkered flag this season and his 97th career win! It was a good show!

4-CYL HORNET'S MECHANICS RACE:
Nine Hornet drivers gave up their rides for their mechanics to take over the wheel in a 5-lap competition. A LOT of action happened with close racing. Galen Hassler, Columbia, drove his "nervous" oldest brother's #21 Hornet and fought a hard battle with Jeromy Milnes (Moberly - Rob Chase's #3), but Hassler crossed the finish line about two car lengths ahead of Milnes. Wayne Walter (Madison - Michael Roslien's #53) finished close behind Milnes. What a fun race!
This was Hassler's first time in a race car and did a good job controlling the car. Both Hassler boys gave their proud dad, Dale, a nice Father's Day gift of 2 Feature Wins this night!
