It was a beautiful evening for racing at Moberly's 24 Raceway
by: Pam Hassler - 24 Raceway

MOBERLY, MO. (June 24, 2006) - It was a beautiful evening for racing at Moberly's 24 Raceway. Everyone seemed to be happy and excited to watch 112 race cars "show their stuff"! There was a lot of racing action to entertain the crowd throughout the night until the races concluded around 11:00 pm.

INFORMATION

The bicycle donated by Dunivent Motors of Moberly was won by lucky Jr. Fan Club winner 6 year old Maddie Eller from Columbia.
Debbie Mitchell from Jacksonville was the delighted winner of $173 from the 50/50 Drawing which supports the drivers' Point Fund and the Banquet.
Gold Nugget Popcorn was on site selling the yummy Kettle Corn.
SPECIAL!!!!! It was a thrill for the fans to witness the "Dukes of Hazzard" once again. The "cast" and vehicles from the show had a lot of fun with their "chase" as the siren and lights of the police car captured Bo and Luke, only to allow a "getaway". Thanks so much to the Prather family from Cario for sharing!
Thanks again to the track sponsors and to those who donated prizes.
A continuous "thanks" goes to the fans who support the track with their attendance and of course to the drivers, owners, and crews for their participation in making 24 Raceway a fun place to spend each Saturday night.

UPCOMING EVENTS

July 1 - "Dirt track racing at its best" continues with the Weekly Racing Series along with featuring a huge 40-Lap Special Race in the A-Mod class. On the line is a tremendous purse with $1000 going to the hard-charging winner and high "$" available to those farther back in the pack as well. L & J Development, Inc. of Moberly is the generous sponsor of this 2nd Annual Oscar White Memorial. Also planned is a huge FIREWORKS display following the races. Double points for the other four classes of B-mods, Sportsman, Hobby Stock and Hornets!

July 8 - A Sportsman Mechanics Race will be added at the conclusion of the Weekly Racing Series.

July 15 - The W.O.W. (Winged Outlaw Warriors) 360 Sprint Cars will be an added attraction as they "fly" around the high-banked dirt oval.

RESULTS

HORNETS:
The 29 Hornets were again divided into two features - A and B.

B-Feature - Kristi Chase (#33 Clark) displayed patience as she took the lead from Lowell Smith (#37 New Cambria). Pulling closer was Richard Doctorian (#36 Smithville). The three finished 1-2-3 as written. Chase was very excited on her victory as she thanked family and sponsors.

A-Feature - The first two rows were inverted. Brooke Hassler (#21 Columbia) took the lead and stretched ahead of the field with lots of action behind him as John Brown (#01 Huntsville), Darren Morgan (#9 Paris), Rob Chase (#3 Clark), and Rich Moret (#02 Cairo) all gave chase to the checkered. After a yellow flag for a crash on the backstretch, the the last four laps allowed Moret (#2) to gain momentum on Hassler (#21). Moret captured the checkered flag just in front of Hassler. Chase, Brown, and Morgan finished third, fourth, and fifth. Good racing in both features! Fun to watch!

HOBBY:
This 12-lap feature provided a lot of "on the tail" action among the top finishers. Some tried the low groove while others tried the high line, but either way the drivers really wanted the win! Clinton Dale (#7
Jacksonville) took his 2nd victory in this class. He stated that "it was a long time since this car has been in victory lane". Kevin Renzelmann (#41
Moberly) in 2nd place gave Dale a "run for the money", followed by Larry Krog (#6 Clarence) in 3rd who also wanted a "bit of the dough". Mike Wolfe (#11 Madison) and Tom Creed (#17 Moberly) traded places a few times but finished 4th and 5th as written. Exciting race action!

SPORTSMAN:
This was another exciting race starting 17 cars. Pete Agee (#14
Huntsville) settled into the lead and accepted the 1st place trophy after 12 laps. Jeff Creed (#01 Cairo) was right behind Agee and finished 2nd. Butch Bailey (#111 Novelty) and Rick Girard (#00 Columbia) both closely battled for 3rd and 4th. Fifth place was filled from a remarkable pursuit by Clinton Dale (#12 Jacksonville) who started in last position. Super good job!

MOBERLY MOTORS B-MODS:
Twenty cars began this race that had a lot of side-by-side competition, especially between winner Bob Woodrow (#3 Perry) and 2nd place Tony Dunker (#4 Quincy, IL). Dave Kinder (#40 Moberly) and Porter Collins (#46
Clarence) both started back in the group and fought hard to catch the leaders but had to be content with 3rd and 4th respectively. Dustin Boling (#36 Lentner) also was a contender to finish 5th. This was Woodrow's 6th win of the season who said it was a "dog-fight" and he had to "keep my foot in it". Good race challenges!

A-MODS:
This competition started 21 competitive cars. Once again Vance Wilson (#22c Frankford) took command and earned his 7th win, his 98th career win. He'd like to reach his 100th win at Moberly perhaps next week to grab the "big bucks" special, but he'd have to win somewhere else this week for his 99th. Kelly Smith (#41 Kirksville), who gave a run on Wilson, and Mike Hoover (#71 Mexico) "worked on" each other also for the 2nd and 3rd positions. Also battling hard were David Holder (#B4 Clarence) and Ben Ballard (#49 Sturgeon) who finished 4th and 5th. Great fast racing!

DON'T FORGET!
Each week Moberly's 24 Raceway provides "dirt track racing at its best"! The track is located 3 miles east of Moberly on Highway 24. Enjoy some great racing from dedicated racers!
