Lincoln County Raceway to Have New Promoter for 2006

North Platte, NE. (Jan. 11, 2006) - On January 9, the Lincoln County Ag Society named local businessman Gary Herbst as the new promoter for Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte. Gary, along with local radio marketing specialist Tamie Thurn, have a goal to try to get the track as it used to be a few years ago, when Lincoln County Raceway was the Saturday racing destination for fans and racers. Gary brings over 20 years of dirt track racing experience, which includes nearly every aspect of racing from racer to sponsor. Although relatively new to the sport, Tamie brings marketing experience and enthusiasm for the sport. Local dirt experts Gary and Mike Nekuda will be brought back to prepare the track.

There will be some changes in the classes that run at Lincoln County Raceway for 2006. The class that has raced at Lincoln County Raceway the most years, the Mini-Sprints, will be back. The premier class, the Modifieds, will return as well, along with the most exciting class of the past few years, the Stock Cars. A Hobby Stock class will be added to the night. Hobby Stocks appear similar to Stock Cars, but are a lower-budget, entry level big car division. They are a type of car that have gained popularity in Southwestern Nebraska the past three years. The Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks will be sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association.

The gates will open this year at 5 PM CDT, with the races starting at 7 PM CDT. The 2006 race dates will be as follows:
May 7--Test and Tune Day 2 PM
May 13--First night of races

June 13--(Tuesday Nebraskaland Days race)
July 1
July 8
July 15
July 22
July 28-29 (Sandhills Shootout, promoted by the Lincoln County Ag Society with Modifieds and Stock Cars)

Lincoln County Raceway is on the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on the western edge of North Platte along U. S. Highway 30.
